Sherff is a PB player. Williams is an 0 fer
Moses has filled in nicely for Polumbus however, remove Lavau and Moses is our weakest lineman, period! I would start Nyseke over Moses right now. Don't believe me, take a pole...
Dad has a right to beat his chest. He said it was a good pick (I, for one, questioned the pick at the time) and he has turned out to be a good pick. Not sure how that is debatable. No different than how dean beats his chest on his prediction that Murphy was a terrible pick....oh, wait. Maybe it is different.Again Dad taking a guard at 5 was perhaps the safest pick in Redskins history, it almost couldn't fail. You continue to beat your chest in victory while completely missing the point. And that point is you can get a comparable player without spending a top 5 pick. And again as the king of "let's wait 3 years before drawing any conclussions" you are conveniently violating your own rule when it serves your purpose. This is especially true when discussing DL as they clearly take longer to develop.

Why does he have to wait? Sheriff proved in year 2 that dad was right. He has said we need to wait a full three years before we can draw any form of conclussion. . Said that a number of times. Apparantly thst no longer applies when it furthers his argument.
Again Scherff being this good was never my argument about the pick. I knew at the time that he would be a very good guard, it was a very safe pick. That was never the debate so this Pro Bowl really doesn't settle anything.

Our run. Game has thrived with long at center he should be our starting center for years to come
2 points. First, I take Dads 3 year bar is before we declare a player, coach, or scheme a bust. Sheriff has already proven Dad right, so there is no need for the third year. Second, this is sure a different tune you are singing when many came down on Dean for doing a similar victory dance. I seem to remember you defending his right to do it. Did I miss something? As I have already explained he has set the bar at year 3 which we all agree is fair. But this just in, Leanard Williams has just completed year 2 and is already being burried.
It's just a shame that we can't just enjoy the success of our player without the need for self validation, especially when the victory dance is premature by the guy who has strongly suported the 3 year rule. Scherff was a good pick, nobody can deny that. But what if Williams turns into a dominant, game changing player? Then I could trot out a list of Pro Bowl guards who were't top 5 picks and do my own victory dance to prove my point too..
It just all seems unnecessary.

I'm not allowing dad to do anything other than agree that he was right about sheriff. I haven't said a word about Williams. I won't be surprised if he also turns into a PB player. And this is a perfect example of he deserves more time to prove himself. So please don't put words in my posts I haven't written.Yeah what you missed was you jumped on Dean for drawing a conclussion on Murphy prematurely but you are allowing Dad to do the same thing regarding Leanard Williams. Make sense now? This is more about Williams than it is about Scherff. Williams could jump up, have 15 sacks next year, go on to have a Hall of Fame career but apparently none of that would matter because Dad has already proclaimed victory after year 2.

The difference between dad and dean is dad will admit when he was wrong. Dean also regularly uses opinions as facts. I've interacted with both for years. Can't say I've ever seen Dean eat crow. Have you?

You are when you state I'm allowing dad to make any claims about Williams. Again, I haven't mentioned Williams. The two are not tied in my mind. And this come from a poster that wanted Williams over Sherff at the time, but has come to appreciate the Sherff pick. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. We needed both DL and OL talent. We now have a verified PB caliber OG. Dad called it and he was right. What wasn't right was we could have picked similar talent later in the draft as there have been no other PB OL taken in that draft after Sherff. BTW, I also believed at the time that we could find similar OG talent later, so I Was also wrong.I wasn't putting words in your mouth, I have been using Dad's words. This is the position I have been debating throughout the thread. Again he is drawing a conclusion on Williams prematurely which is exactly what Dean did that you had issues with. As for Dean's failure to admit he was wrong I agree with you but that has nothing to do with what we are talking about.
There is a difference between Dad and Dean. Dad is stating at this time, Scherff isn't a bad pick and that is backed up by a pro bowl berth. Dean proclaims TM is a bust, should be cut, and is nothing but a STs guy...while he is only in year 3 and has been a spot starter for this team the whole time. Dean does this because he looking for validity that Moses should have been our second pick even though we got him in the third.
With our RBs and lack of commitment to to the run, 18th is very good.

Dude, you said Murphy was a bad pick on his draft day, way before JG.I love how you guys leave out the JG injury when I said that about Murphy.
