How is he a must sign? You will give 10M per season to a one trick pony who is injury prone?

YOu going to stick to that $10m number when you have no clue what it would take to keep him. But I get it, Jackson is on your I just dont like him list. There for he must go and you are going to pound that drum. And saying he wont be had for less than ten million makes it sound more rational to you even though you have zero idea of what he will get offered.

Because at this point, we are not using DJ to his fullest capability imo. He is explosive and can create separation which is hard to find. When Doctson returns and I believe he will, he will take over for Garcon. This is obviously my choice should we elect to sign one of the two.

Until he is able to make it through practice without fear of tearing his Achilles, I cant say that its a good idea to place any faith in him. Which is why I think we need to resign both. sure its going to cost us some cap space. But seriously, if we go into the off season and the ONLY things we need to address on the offense is LG, RB and we could consider a center and a RT as bonus material if there.... I could live with that.

Keep the offense we have together and improve on it, concentrate on the real weakness of the team (pick a unit on defense and we could use an upgrade). Now Im not saying blow huge money on Jackson or Garcon. But i think Both could be had at a cap cost of less than $12 million for the pair. To me it would be well worth it.

I agree with you but I don't think DJ will come that cheap. Someone (Philly) will offer more money for DJ's niche.

So whats your realistic expectation for what Jackson gets. I say $10 million is off the table any place considering that there are very few over 30 year old WR making that kind of jack right now.

Not at all. He is not going to take less than he is making now which is 9M.

Actually what he is making NOW is not $9 million. That might be his cap number. But what he actually made this year was $7.5M the rest is prorated cap money which he was already paid, and a work out bonus which i dont think he hit.

Either way, you have no idea what he will or wont sign for. You have zero idea as to how any new deal would be structured. But it fits into your argument to say oh he wont take less than $9 million a year. When reality says most 30 or older WRs are not even close to $10 million a year.If he gets it some where else good for him. But to assume he is easily replaced and there for not even attempt to resign him is forrest gump level stupid. Of the two, Garcon is the easier to replace. And no one on this roster brings what Jackson does to the table... period.

There is something to be said about rewarding your own players. This offense has been top 3 in the league all year. For the most part it works. Why get cute and fool with it. If Doctson had lit it up this year, I'd be fine with letting one of them go. Why let a guy like Jackson or Garçon go for Doctson?

Bringing these guys back says to the vets in that room that we feel we have a window. We feel this offense gives us a chance to win every week. We're trying to do something here. How do you think the vets view Doctson in that locker room right now. Jax and Garçon are the ones they been going to "war" (relitively speaking) with for the past three years. You think those guys in the locker room wanna lose one of them for the kid in the corner with the boot on?

Garçon's comeback routes, the stick route, the crossing routes over the middle on 3rd down where he gets blown up by two people and comes up with the ball, smiling, fang mouth piece showing and pounds his chest.

Jackson has done nothing but make play after play since he came back. TD vs. GB. 70yrd+TD in Dallas. The bomb last week in Arizona. Kirk and the team got hot last year after Jax came back. Yes he's gonna miss 4 games a year, yet the rookie who missed 14 this year gets a pass?

How nice would it be to go into the off-season basically washing your hands with the offense? Leary at LG. Maybe a back in the 3rd or something. I've been screaming for a while now to bring everyone back on O. Not sure it will happen, but it's the right thing to do.

When he first signed his deal with us I thought he got 9M per season. FA players get overpaid. Its just a fact. IMO there wont be no attempt to resign him b/c the FA dollars will be too large for SM. You can always find speed daemons late in the draft. PG is the more versatile player and would be a lot cheaper to bring back. We will see what happens but his offense is certainly not dead without Jackson.

I think he got 8m per season when he signed in 2014. So you think he is going to take the same deal to stay here? If offered?

His last deal averaged $8m per year.

And if it were that easy to find a guy who was fast AND capable of producing... every team would have one. Ross is apparently fast, but he scares no one. Andrea Roberts was fast, but again no one game planned on trying to stop him. There are 20 Garcons in the league... so ya he will be cheaper to resign.

Considering he is 30, and the only places he will likely make MORE are on teams where he likely has less to work with?? Yep.

The Chiefs found one in Hill. This is going to be Jackson last contract. He is going to the highest bidder. It wont be us.

Sure they did... but say we grab another Ross who scares no one.. how much do you think that limits our offense??

And you know this because he told you that on snap chat??

Oh cmon. You think Jackson will be a guy who would take less to stay with a winner? If we call ourselves winners. You would seriously overpay for this guy? The offense will be fine if Davis is brought back and we add another Olineman. Do the Cowboys, Seahawks, or Falcons have a legit deep threat? NO!

I would rather use that money 8-10 mil per season to go to ILB,S, or DL. If KC signs long term and we make the necessary cuts, we could get three impact UFA's this offseason. I would take three over one any day.

The Cowboys, Sea Hawks and Falcons have a running game, a defense and Julio Jones who DOES strike fear into other teams defenses.

Even IF Jackson was given $10 million a year, that would not stop us from being able to fill those positions. And to be honest those positions SHOULD be filled in the draft. Our offense works, you would hamper that to chase some one elses player instead of resigning a guy we know works in our offense??

News flash, If Kirk resigns long term, and we make necessary cuts... we could give Jackson Garcon, Baker AND Vernon Davis $10M a year contracts and STILL sign three impact free agents. just fess up and say you have a problem with the player and hope we dont even try to resign him. The truth will set you free Dean.

No problem with it. Just a waste of money. SM is not going to blow all our cap space in one offseason. My point is that you don't need a legit deep threat to be successful in the league. Reed,Garcon, and Crowder are plenty to have a successful offense. Plus the running game should be better next year if we add olineman. So it makes jacksons impact worth even less.

If you don't think Jackson would command 10M let me know what you think he signs for annually. You seem to think that he will take less than what he signed for in 2014. I just disagree. You have to remember this is his last deal. He has to cash in and go where the money is.

The funny thing would be if Moses gets an extension in the offseason and Jackson doesn't get an offer to come back.
