I think at this point Junior needs to stop trying to prove his worth in practice, stay healthy and do it on the field in games that matter. IM fine with signing him to an incentive heavy deal at this point. But he has made more for rehabbing the past two years than most of us will make in ten years. Time for him to get healthy, let his body build to the point where it can take the punishment, and show it on the game field instead of showing ass in practice and being useless come game time.
if he isnt already signed it would be a vet min deal for sure

Who does he take over for? Why do we need to throw a pick there at all?

Because we need More from our pass rush, especially inside the division.

He isnt already signed. Im fine with Vet min. Still would not be upset with a situational pass rusher in the draft.

TM could be moved to DE as planned and again you could draft a guy but in case the BPA is there you could go with JR at the vet min

Waiting until after the draft to address free agency is how you end up with starters named Ziggy Hood.

If we take a look at the current roster, their reserves and injured/reserve players, we would find that the real work of SM and company in getting this team much younger and hopefully stocked with players who in the upcoming season are fully ready to make significant contributions. That said, we must also look at players who are either slated to age out or take on back-up roles. In as much as this 60 something year old guy hates to employ ageism as a factor, it is no doubt a real topic in NFL circles. My list of our guys and a possible projection of future roles.

Aging out.....

Cullen Jenkins is 35
Hall and Golston are both 33
Blackmon is 32
Ty Nsekhe, Sullivan, Toler, Whitner and Lichtensteiger are all 31
Colt McCoy, RJF and P. Garcon are all 30.

Cuts, back-up roles or unsigned......

Baker, Hood, DJax, Lauvao and Bruton Jr are all 29
Kerrigan is 28

We just don't know because of health.....

Junior Galette is 28
Niles Paul is 27
Jordan Reed is 26

Actually I think that the Redskins are in decent shape age wise (certainly better than several years ago). Besides Nsekhe & Garcon none of the players you listed in the "aging out" section are critical & most will likely be gone by next season (I wish that some were already gone).

Given that most of these players are on defense, the current talent level or lack thereof) at certain positions, a good number of draft picks, recent success w/ several picks & some cap space I think that they can at least fill a fair amt of these needs - the rest will have to wait for the next offseason (sign of the times - there are no NFL teams that are stacked on both offense and defense in this era).

Nsekhe has been a brick wall. I'd like to see Blackmon brought back even if it's just as a back-up FS. If we pick up a FS, I might think about giving him another shot at slot if Fuller continues to struggle down the stretch. I would hate to lose Garçon. Jay loves Colt.
