BTW - can we please do away w/ all of this "franchise QB" nonsense. Who cares. As long as your QB has the potential to lead your team to the SB (which I believe now that Cousins is certainly capable of doing at some pt in next several years) then who cares about what label you want to use to describe your QB.

At this point, Kirk would have to implode for the Skins not to resign and pay him. All things considered, he is 28 and has no injury history. It would be dumb as hell for the Skins to NOT resign him.
Only thing is - What if one of the Shanny's
The Skins would be idiots not to pay Kirk what he deserves.
The worry at the back of my mind is that if Kyle or Mike get a head coaching job next year, they're going to call Kirk, and Kirk might feel like they want him and appreciate him more than the Skins do. The good thing is that the Skins would get 2 firsts in compensation - since they'd more than likely franchise him - though obviously we'd prefer to keep Cuz.

Max Kellerman is a fucking idiot!

I can see Kellerman's point. KC has proven to be our franchise QB. He may not fit in every offense.

He was an idiot when he said we should still be looking.

I also take issue with him saying Luck is but KC isn't. That is ludicrous over the last two seasons.

This team making the playoffs despite playing a first place schedule would go a long way towards making people realize just what Kirk means to this team. We are in a prime spot for a wild card at the moment. So unless Kirk totally implodes... they are going to pay the man.

Side note... Next home game they need to drop the Kool Moe Dee cut as Kirk walks onto the field. :thumb:

Depending on how we finish the season, I could see Kirk getting a little less than this... or a tad bit more.

If we win a playoff game then he deserves it. Assuming we are on the road and have to beat Atl,Det, or Min. For us to win the division and get a bye the Cowboys would have to lose 3 out of their last 6 games. Plus we would have to win out and go 12-3-1. If that happens then KC might not have to win a playoff game to get that deal.

My take, Kirk gets resigned unless he implodes. We dropped 3 too many games for us to have any realistic shot at winning the division. But if we manage a wild card game despite playing a first place schedule, there really isnt any good reason to not resign Kirk.

I agree but he is going to ask for the moon. If that Hopkins kick becomes the tie that lost the bye week im going to scream. If im not mistaken wasn't KC ask before the signed the franchise tag was 22 mil per season?

Here is Wilsons deal. He has a ring.

7/31/2015: Signed a five-year, $89.142 million contract. The deal contains $60 million guaranteed, including a $31 million signing bonus. 2016: $12.34 million, 2017: $12.6 million, 2018: $15.5 million, 2019: $17 million, 2020: Free Agent

I think he was asking for $20 million a year on average. That number will probably go up a little.

are you sure? I thought he wanted more than that tag. I think it was 22M.

Luck gets a free pass more than any NFL QB in recent memory. Hell - maybe more than any athlete period.

i believe they were offering 16 per 24 guaranteed ...he was asking 20 per 50 guaranteed ...

he is not going to sign anything less then 24 per at this point ...

not when he can hold out for the franchise tag.

i would imagine that guaranteed number has gone up 20% also

He is going to get paid, only question now is who is going to do the paying. JMO but if I was Scot, Bruce and Dan I would be trying to get him signed before he hits free agency.

considering Dans exuberant dancing party last night ... i wouldnt be surprised if he was hosting his agent for thanksgiving dinner to work out the details.

Ii think Shark said it in another thread, but If I were scot, I would come out this week and state, unequivocally, that KC is going to be here for a long time and he and the FO are 100% behind him. I think more than top dollar, KC is looking for recognition by his management for what he has done. And Scot, or whomever it is, needs to stop the leaks to the press about KC still needs to prove something. Im sure its just a negotiating tool, but it has the potential to have a very negative affect. If he feels disrespected, he may just say FU, tag me again and I'm gone after that.
