And maybe this is exactly what will happen? As long as the deal is fair and it doesn't financially devastate this franchise for the next decade (in the event that KC turns total bust), then I could certainly warm up to it.

This article about KC makes me start really warming up to it. Everyone ahould take the time to read if you already haven't.

Nothing is improbable about Kirk Cousins’s rise

Guy just gets it. Totally puts in the work and seems like he is doing everything humanly possible to succeed.

Serious question.. Do most NFL QBs train themselves mentally, emotionally, physically like KC does? Is this the norm for an NFL QB? I think not?? Sounds like Manning/Brady stuff.

I have been on record in the past as saying he is a career backup. I hope (and believe) I will be inserting food in mouth a year from now. I THINK our prayers have been answered friends. RG3 should really take a hard look at what KC has done and he may still have a chance to have an impactful career somewhere.

Here's the difference between KC and RG3. RG3 has been told his whole life that he is special. He is superior (athletically) than everyone else. He just needs to show up and the job is his. He has never had to really compete for playing time. What is telling is that when he was deciding on what college to attend, his first choice was Stanford and he was all set to commit. Then a QB by the name of Luck committed to Stanford. RG3, for only reasons we can speculate on, decided he wanted nothing to do with competing with him and committed to Baylor. KC, on the other hand, has always been told he was a "career backup". He had to compete for every snap he took. He learned how to prepare himself, physically and mentally, to outplay his peers. So we get to this season, and once again, RG3 is handed the starting role. He even proclaimed himself the best QB not only on the team, but in the league. Its probably the largest disservice done to RG3. Just confirming what he has been led to believe his who athletic life, just show up.

Yeah, I recently read an article on KC and the spreadsheet. It is totally nuts but yes, that is Manning stuff...a bit OCD. That is what is needed from a QB though. Football IQ is not the same thing as intelligence. Football IQ is about studying your enemy, their tendencies, and then applying what you see to what you have seen to have an expectation of things coming. There is nothing I do not like about KC.

Pay the man. He is a top 10 QB and deserves to be paid as such. Nothing unequivocal about his play and his importance to this team.

Good QB and he will get paid, not sure if the Skins pony up the most money as some team may jump in and throw a ton of cash his way

At this point, Kirk would have to implode for the Skins not to resign and pay him. All things considered, he is 28 and has no injury history. It would be dumb as hell for the Skins to NOT resign him.

I agree and agreed before the season started, which is why I would be concerned that if the Skins don't make a deep playoff run, some other team may come in and money whip Kirk into jumping ship. Though the teams that are capable of doing so may be very few

Way I figure it, the Skins either fork up and sign him long term, or tag him again. The only way Kirk is not a Redskin next year is if the team loses out from now til the end of the season, and it is mostly Kirks fault.

The Skins would be idiots not to pay Kirk what he deserves.

Don't think so. As long as the sides are close I think that the extension will get done in the offseason. I don't see Cousins jumping ship just for a few more $$. This is especially true since a team doing this most likely will be a struggling team that won't give him the same opportunities for success as the Redskins.

Think about it. If Cousins leaves he would be giving up many things including 1. a familiar & comfortable setting for his family. 2. a coaching staff who stood up for him & is totally in sync with him 3. talented teammates who are behind him & continue to gel w/ him 4. a quality O line to protect him & now signs of a running game & 5. a fanbase that is finally embracing him. Many of these will not be guaranteed in a new setting. Even if that new setting is a decent one it may take years to develop whereas he is ready for success now in DC.

I feel very confident that Cousins & the Redskins will get this done. The only doubts now are coming from uniformed fans & the ones who still cling to RG3 (if those idiots still exist).

I agree that they will get this done very shortly after the signing period opens. They just need to be sure that their opening offer isn't viewed as an insult. Stop playing games. This guy has done everything asked of him.

I'm not sure there are too many of the RG3 supporters left, at least those that were somehow rooting (subconsciously) against KC as a way to prove that it wasn't RG3's fault for his failure here. RG3 is quickly turning himself into a footnote in NFL history. Its unfortunate, but also primarily his own responsibility.

On a side note, does Mike Shanahan deserve some love/props for the drafting of KC? It appears he was right all along, about both rG3 and KC. Makes you wonder what might have been if he was left to coach the team as he saw fit.

Absolutely, he knew he was taking a risk with Griffin. He should also get credit for Trent Williams, Jordan Reed, Pierre Garcon, Ryan Kerrigan. Some of the best players on the team. Glad Jay is coaching them though and SM has filled the team out the past two years.
