JD will be on the ticket in about 5 minutes.
Houston GM mouthing off about holding their prospects and dissing Rangers will likely become poster material
I worry about the sustainability of that. I mean the market for starting pitching was stupid high this season. We would have been lucky to get. Cole Hamels for that same initial package this year.
Indians’ Chris Gimenez on Jonathan Lucroy: “Hopefully, we can win the World Series and we’ll be laughing at him.”
Former Rangers catcher talks shit about new Rangers catcher.
And Gimmy might want to improve that stat line.

He was goaded into an emotional response. People kept bugging him about the Rangers and essentially chastised them for giving up young talent to make the club better and that you shouldn't be so quick to judge trades as winners now. He's still a tender from the Gomez and Giles trades. What did that clown say?
Oh for sure none have been TORPs. That's just been a hell of a lot of depth to hand off to other clubs. But looking at it from a wide view, we haven't traded away a TORP at this rate only for (Lee, Hamels)
We've traded away lots of 3s, 4s and 5s (Ortiz, Roark, Thompson, Eickhoff, Hendricks and lots of relievers; Edwards, Grimm, Ramirez) but nothing that hurts long term, those guys can be replaced
Am I missing someone?

Tate was overrated, he wasn't going to be that high next year, Ortiz and Brinson hurt, but thats the cost of doing business
Was CJ Wilson the last thing we could call close to a TORP that Texas developed. As much as we rag on him he flashed strong number 2 quite a bit.Depth yes, but pretty replaceable depth, our system always seems to produce those types, we just can't ever produce 1s and 2s
I think we need to probably reassess and refocus on pitching depth and I thought that before these trades, because lack of depth kind of jumped up and bit us this year
It is what it is. Gotta spend something if you're bringing in quality big league guys to make that playoff push.
I really liked the trades. If they couldn't get a quality top end starter at a decent price, this was the best they could have done.

I was just asking about developing period. At his peak, yeah he was a solid 2 for a couple years, but he wasn't traded, so that doesn't really work into the discussion
forgot about Volquez, who's flashed #3 ability at times, but he got us Hamilton, who without we probably don't sniff a World Series

Even if the could...all things being equal give me two bats than can affect every game over a MORP that can only pitch once every five. Texas already has Cole and Yu. In a 5 game or 7 game series your third best pitch is only likely to make one start each anwyay. I like their thinking of taking two guys who will contribute daily vs one who does every 5th day.

sale wasn't happening without Mazara and Gallo both, so I don't wanna think about the lineup backing up Hamels, Sale, and Darvish...They weren't going after a MORP if they were gonna get a starter. It would have been Chris Sale or the trades they ended up making. They weren't willing to give up 2 of the big 3 in order to do the deal for Sale.
In a playoff series, if you roll out Hammels, Darvish, Sale...well good luck to the other team. The bigger kicker for Sale is that he's on a very club friendly contract for multiple years still. So, in the event they cannot re-sign Darvish, they still have a powerful 1-2 with Hammels and Sale. That was the thinking anyhow. Obviously didn't happen, but i would have been cool with that too had it worked out.

There was the possiblity of going MORP obviously as much as Matt Moore was discussed, glad him or Sale didn't come to fruition, Sale would've truly depleted the system, Moore was just not a necessity
I still feel that a deal for some rotation depth might take place if any guys make it through waivers
