Boy he really hasn't developed the way I thought he would when I first saw him. Thought he was gonna be an ace for sure.

Apparently he hurt his arm to the extent he's probably never going to be the flamethrower he was early in his career. But he seems to be in the process of recreating himself rather nicely. And he's only 27, so he may get some of that arm strength back yet.

No fault of their own but Yu and Derek continue to have health issues. It is difficult for me to bet the farm on either of them to take us where we want to go. No question of the ability but health dependability is an issue that remains a valid concern. Griffin and Colby is another question. Can they hold up? Perhaps there is nothing to worry about but I can't get it out of my mind. Like it or not, Yu and Derek have something to prove and it's not their ability to pitch but to remain injury free.

Rangers' Joey Gallo: Struggling of late at Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Gallo, 22, is batting just .171 with 20 strikeouts over his last 10 games for Triple-A Round Rock.

While the Rangers have been unable to find at-bats for Gallo at the big league level, he is not exactly raking right now either. Overall, he is batting just .246 on the year, though he does have a .382 On-Base Percentage along with 14 home runs in 53 games at Triple-A. Barring injury, it appears that Gallo may have to wait until September to see the big leagues again.

Rangers' Jose Leclerc: Will head to majors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Leclerc has been called up Tuesday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

The 22-year-old has not stepped foot on a major league field as of yet, but will most likely do so with the crippled Rangers pitching staff needing fresh arms to get them to the All-Star Break. Leclearc has posted a 2.64 ERA through 44.1 innings of work between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock this season.

Saw this the other day and hope he's not going backwards again.

IMO he needs to stay down and really conquer the minors, like he was earlier in the season, and make no trips to Arlington in the near future. He was doing well before the last call-up.

It doesnt help that he rides the pine while in AAA either. "food poisoning" and a "heel issue" are the latest reasons why he has been out of the lineup.

There's something fishy going on with Gallo... not quite sure what it is.

You remember he got yanked in the middle of a game early last month as well.

You're the first poster to state this, but you may be on to something. Certainly wouldn't rule "fishiness" out of the equation. But maybe we're just being a couple of "conspiracy theorist." ha ha

Yep.....do remember this.

Also, several weeks, maybe longer ago, I read an article about the mental makeup difference between Gallo, Profar, Mazara, etc. Guy stated Gallo was much flashier off the field than any of those guys...Dresses expensively, drives a nice sport car. That kind of thing. Now there's absolutely nothing wrong with this, but maybe he's been watching his massive HRs and reading too many flattering articles about himself, and his ego has gotten a little too large for his britches.

I'm definitely being a conspiracy theorist now.

Adam Morris tweeted the other day that there were signs Gallo got caught in some sort of power struggle between on-field management and the front office, as least as far as his 2016 Texas Rangers service is concerned.

And that is why I think we need to be willing to part with some prospects for pitching but do not give up any young pitching talent. I think we are walking a fine line with our pitching right now. And I had concerns about Holland before the season started and still do if he comes back. To me Gallo is not a guarantee MLB star. Maybe closer to another Inky but I could be way off on this and he could be Chris Davis with low average and plenty of power. If I had a choice between keeping Profar or Gallo I would have to go with Profar.

Without a doubt.

We need to find a way to develop our own pitching better than we have in the past. When we missed out on signing Cliff Lee Daniels said as much himself, but that hasn't really materialized yet. There are so many injuries to pitchers that you really run a risk in paying a lot in free agency or in trading a boatload of prospects for them.

He sat out a couple of games after getting yanked as well. Then he came back and injured the heel shortly afterwards.

The way the Rangers have been playing lately brings out a few fans who are ready to panic, but it also brings out the local radio and blog media overreacting to a few fans overreaction.

We were at one time then used them for trade chips but have started to draft more pitching but it takes time for them to develop. And I am not upset about getting Hamels and Diekman. I think it has served us well overall.
