Tough to watch Daryl. Pitching was not short of zero. No chance today.
Sure like the four run first inning but let the pitcher get off the ropes. Scored once after that. Our hitting hasn't been too spectacular as well. Wouldn't mind another bat but know JD is going to concentrate on pitching.

Our offense really hasn't changed any from when we were on a big roll earlier this year. We were winning a lot of games with 4-6 runs. The difference has entirely been defense and pitching.

Any pitching at all and 5 runs should have done it I think.

What do you all think about the Rangers "taking a hard look at" Santana?
Unless he is almost "given" to us then no. If we are going to trade for a starter I want a better one.

I would still like to see Sadzeck get a chance before making a trade.

How much are you willing to give up for a better one and who is that?

I don't see him costing our top prospects if we are paying his salary. The article talked about taking Santana possibly as well as a young top of the rotation type pitcher though. Im not sure I want to deal all the prospects its gonna take for a front of the rotation guy, cause I don't want to deplete the system for 1 guy. Thinking Hill or Santana would sure up the middle to back end of the rotation.

I don't want to say it but there is that chance Colby and or Derek cant get back to 100% health, this season. If Derek comes back he may still not be effective. I like the way Santana has held up mostly without many injuries

Rangers' Tanner Scheppers: Continues to progress in rehab
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scheppers (knee) has extended his long-toss to 105 feet according to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com.

Scheppers hopes to begin pitching from the mound by early June with the goal of returning after the All-Star break.

I have confidence Colby will come back and perform well. Derek is the biggest question to me. It all depends on how much this shoulder issue was bothering him and for how long earlier this year. If it hampered him a big portion of the season then I have more confidence in him going forward if he does in fact get healthy. If his shoulder problems didn't have any affect on him earlier then he cannot be trusted. Hopefully, they know if he was having problems earlier and just chose to tough it out. That would have a big effect on who I would attempt to go after in trade.

I would put more faith in Holland if I thought it was because he was injured earlier this season. My fear is it is regression for Holland as he wasn't good at the end of last season either

It all depends on what they think Derek can give them as I said above in my response to Murph. I am hoping Derek's problems were injury related. If it was and he gets healthy then we might get the Derek back who returned from injury a couple of seasons ago. That would be nice.

If that is the case then I might try to patch things up with guys like Sadzeck, Mendez and Ortiz. I am intrigued by Matt Moore though.

I am hoping he has been honest with them about how long he has been hurt and they can make an informed decision about what to expect from him.

I think he pushed himself too hard last year, but who knows at this point.

He just racks up the injuries and is too inconsistent for me these days. Cant really trust him, I would like someone who will be able to make most of his starts

I don't think age is on Holland's side anymore.

Joba Chamberlain dfa'd by the Indians. He has been bad since coming off the DL the last 6 games, but his first 13 were really really good. Anybody for trying to pick him up and sending him to RR to see if he can get back to earlier form?

Have to say I've never really been a fan, but with our BP I'm starting to get anxious

I remembered this guy with the Brewers a couple years ago, if only because of the name. Could be a good piece for JD to try and add

Brandon Kintzler, RP, Twins — Moving into the closer’s role has raised Kintzler’s profile somewhat, but he still isn’t a name you hear much. But perhaps that should change. He is not and never has been a high-K pitcher, but his impeccable control (0.8 BB/9 this year) and worm-burning tendencies (65.3% groundball rate in 2016) explain why he has managed a 2.28 ERA in 23 2/3 innings. Thing is, this isn’t totally out of the blue: Kintzler owns a 3.25 ERA in over 200 big league frames. He’s dirt cheap and comes with another year of control.

I'd be all for adding someone like him. He's the kind of guy JD would set his sites on while ignoring guys like Chapman.

Not crazy about the walk rate but this guy could be something to think about for the BP, if needed for multiple innings

Brad Hand, RP/SP, Padres — After functioning in a swingman role for the Marlins, Hand has been a pure reliever in San Diego, where he’s now running up double-digit K/9 tallies and swinging strike rates (10.8%) for the first time in his career. He’s also walking nearly five batters per nine, but the southpaw is getting solid results (3.38 ERA) with estimators generally viewing him a sturdy option. He’s not going to draw any kind of huge return, but could be a useful piece for the right team, particularly given his background in a multi-inning role.
