Rangers' Yu Darvish: To begin rehab assignment Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Darvish (shoulder) will make a rehab start at Double-A Frisco on Monday.

After he threw a successful sim-game on Wednesday, the Rangers feel comfortable with sending Darvish out to begin his rehab assignment Monday. He's expected to throw roughly 45 pitches or three innings during his outing at Double-A Frisco. Given that pitch count, he'll likely need at least one more rehab start to push his pitch count up towards a more normal workload.
Love to see him pitch in the Cub series

What's the latest on Holland? Isn't his 15 day DL stent almost up?

Rangers' Derek Holland: Will not be back until after All-Star break
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Holland (shoulder) is not expected to return to the team until after the All-Star break, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth-Star Telegram reports.

Holland was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with left shoulder inflammation after barely pitching into the fifth during his last outing. He has been struggling recently, lasting five innings or fewer in each of his past three starts and will look to rejoin the club around mid-July.

Well I guess another 15 when this 15 ends.

Getting Yu back will help a lot along with Kela. Still need to shore up the pen some more.

I don't want to be the one to bring this up, but I guess I'm going to. I just hope as we get these guys back, they are able to stay healthy for the most part, the rest of the way. We have had more than enough of our share of injuries, beyond time for us to have some good fortune in that regard.

All part of the game though I guess

Do you hold out any hope for Scheppers actually contributing? It would be nice for him to get back to being close to what he was in 2013.

Absolutely not. I think he has gone the way of Kirkman and company. Has the talent but not the location or the mental makeup. Not saying that couldn't change but not anytime soon. But I am always glad to be wrong on things like this.

Wonder why a guy like Roth who is doing much better than Martinez and Chi Chi does not get called up to pitch but they do. I can understand Nick but not Chi Chi and Roth would have fit rather well with his pitching schedule to when Chi Chi was pitching.

WORTH MENTIONING: 40 Years ago today the Cubs center fielder, Rick Monday, saved the American flag from being burned at the game by two demonstrators. He said after the game, I have visited to many veteran hospitals and seen to many broken bones and bodies trying to protect her. If you're going to do it don't do it around me.

Thank You Rick. Baseball is much American! Happy 4th everyone.

Don't get me started on the assholes who think burning or defecating on the American flag is an acceptable form of protest. The fact that they do shows just how ignorant they are to begin with. If I'd seen that little 99% fucker in New York I would've happily gone to jail after cleaning his clock.

Banister said only that the club will discuss Gonzalez's place in the rotation. His spot comes up again on Thursday, at home against the Twins.
The Rangers have to ask themselves if they can justify giving the former first-round draft choice another shot or try Michael Roth or Eric Surkamp, left-handers with major league experience at Triple-A Round Rock. Both fall short of being appealing options.

Roth, scratched from a scheduled appearance with Round Rock, was 2-1 with a 7.79 ERA and .340 opponents batting average for 22 appearances with the Los Angeles Angels in 2014-15. Surkamp was 0-5 with a 6.98 ERA in nine starts with Oakland this season.

Gonzalez has not been much better. In two starts this week, he has allowed 12 hits and nine runs in 5 2/3 innings. In his last eight major league starts, Gonzalez is 1-5 with a 7.50 ERA. He became the first Rangers starter not to finish the first inning since Martin Perez on Sept. 26, 2012.

I will have to admit and I know you probably do as well that he was not the biggest problem out on the field in the 1st inning. That was just bad baseball all the way around.

You're right on that. He should have been sitting in the dugout without having given up a run.

That 1/2 inning was the worst I've seen outta us this season. Hope not to see it again. ha
