We know some things about the NFL. It is a copy cat league - when one team is successful - all the other teams try to get good at what the champion is doing. Even while they are copying the champions - they are plotting to beat or work around what the Champions do well. This is why it is difficult to repeat as champions. With the Bronco's success - the rest of the league - wants to rush the passer and have 3 top CBs and safeties to clean up afterwards - while plotting offensively how to deal with a top pass rush and elite DBs.

This one if pretty simple in theory. Offenses should try to establish the run game - the short passing game - maintain possession of the ball and wear the Defense out (the problem is they have to do it without making errors with the football). The big plays for large gains will have to come off of play action. This is actually reinforced by the idea that Malik Jackson left the team via FA and he was part of the interior defense against the run.

Bill Kollar and Wade Phillips will have to have their troops ready to stop the run and play the side line short distance passing game. I suspect they know what is coming.

Teams will not be able to go 80 yards on this D
At full strength , maybe some smaller WRs with deep speed to get over the top may be an issue otherwise I don't see any weakness in this defense.

Wade Phillips showed us in the post season last year that he's not afraid to mix up his scheme. He caught a few offenses off guard that way. I predict the same for 2016. With the talent that the Broncos have on defense, they can get after you in different ways. I don't think Denver will hold onto the number one spot next season but I'd be surprised if they weren't still a top 5 unit.

It'd be tough to pull off, but I actually see this year's secondary being even better than last. Even if Talib falls off after his stupid shit, I think Roby is more than ready and capable to take over opposite CHJ. With the addition of Simmons our Safeties are a top shelf unit.....Darian Stewart played great last year, and hasn't had much mention as what a contributor he was.

The problem with trying to figure out our defense is the fact that we have playmakers that can shine in many different formations and schemes. As said above the playoffs showed that our defense can adjust to take away what a team loves to do on offense. Those short passing lanes were taken out by rushing 3 and dropping 8 into those short zones causing a QB to have to hold onto the ball more than they ever wanted. Or we can bring delayed pressure or contain type pressure like we saw in the Super Bowl and in the Green Bay game. We honestly did some of our best work against the best QB's we played. Really Pittsburgh is the one team that seemed to give us some problems. Now given our safeties were not healthy either time that we played them so that played a factor but if there is an offense that is built to beat our defense I would say Pittsburgh is the team.

We definitely saw the team commit to the Safety position this off season. Going to be interesting to see how many they decide to keep. With our aggressive style of defense it definitely lends towards the safeties getting hurt.

I think if the offense can get the turnovers under control teams won't be scoring on this defense as much as last year. And that wasn't much to begin with. I believe the unit will be a top-5 across the board: Yards, against the pass, run, etc if they are not #1 again. But the stingy scoring defense I believe is going to really clamp down and be even more stingy than last year. Teams are going to have to hold the Broncos under 20 points every week to even had a shot at winning because it's going to be hard for any team to put up 20+ on this defense.

Hit on the big one. We know that defense will be very solid again but it's the offense that will be the key in how many times they give the opponent opportunities to score pts off turnovers. We definitely saw too many points scored vs Denver's D due to turnovers on Denver's side of field. Way too many 3 and outs by offense as well. Thanks to great depth on that D an being able to keep guys fresh along with a great DC kept the D from giving up more points due to the ineptness on a pretty regular basis by the offense. Without those key ingredients happening for the D, they surely would of tired at critical time of season. If the 2016 offense improves a great deal on limiting their to's and 3 and outs, this year's D and team should have good shot at a repeat IMO. Good job ikf. :)

Last year the Broncos finished 3rd in the league in rush yards allowed, but 1st in the league in average yards allowed per rush. Obviously - other teams tried this last year by running more often, but didn't get much yardage. They will try even harder this year - the Bronco defense devours the deep drop to pass - and makes bad things happen.

Easy: they will try to run plays designed to get Denver's defense to over-commit or over-pursue.

Not so easy: Getting this group of players to over-commit or over-pursue.......
