I do find it interesting that those of us rooting for Leanard Williams last year pointed out that DL was as big of a need as OL but nobody seemed to want to listen.

Sammie Lee Hill NT?
I have a question for you guys here. How do you guys feel about JB DEF scheme. Send four and drop seven in soft coverage scheme. Do you think we have the personnel to run this type of Def. And what do you think about JR as a coach. We had to many missed tackles and bad angles last yr. I think it is a combination of all of the above. Another dismal yr defensively,we ranked 26th in run defense giving up 122.6 yards per game. Now we have improved on the back end Norman, Cravens etc but why pass when you can run on our Skins.
So many on this very site have said that dealing him would be a bad deal for any team because he would be
a "too expensive..one year rental" but this "too expensive..one year rental" is OK for us, right?
If you cut PG, who replaces him? Can that person build the trust with KC in time for the season?
It is OK for us because he is under contract, has rapport with KC, and knows the offense. The only team he is worth 7 mil to would be us.
First, if he stays he gets 10.2M this season and he's certainly not worth that. 2013 was his best season, ( an anomaly) check his career stats including his time in Indy to find out what he's always been. The team just drafted a guy who I believe is already better in Doctson. That said, having rapport with KC won't improve either of them. We've seen the best of Garcon and Kirk.
He doesn't get 10.2 if he stays...that is his cap hit.
Doctson needs to learn the ropes and how to run routes a bit better. He isn't ready to be on the field every snap and how does he block? PG does a lot of dirty work.
If we have seen the best of KC, I am fine with that. His best was a top five QB last season.
You add it up....In 2016 he gets 7.6M in base salary , a 250, 000 roster bonus, a 150, 000 workout bonus, and counts 2.2M this year in dead cap money from his prorated 11M signing bonus. His cap hit this year is 8M
As far as Doctson is concerned, how do you know any of this? Maybe you're basing it on historical DC picks at the position, but the 22 overall pick in any draft should have a much shorter learning curve, especially if you believe that SM does not draft junk players that high.
It is a fascinating study in denial, when people state that KC was a top 5 QB (if you only count the last third or quarter of the season) Reality check....there are 16 games played during a season and last year totaling up a full season, there is no possible way to come to the conclusion that he was anything more than middle of the pack, deniers excepted.

Garcon's cap hit is 10.2 million this season. He stands to make 8 million in extra money.
I am actually basing Doctson on history of the position...not in DC but in the history of a transition of being a collegiate athlete and a professional WR.
It would be more fascinating if you look at the actual words. Was KC playing differently the last half of the season than he did at the beginning of the season? It is called growth. You said we have seen his best. His best was the last half of the season. The last half of the season, he was a top five QB.
This is my last word on Garcon's salary, if he stays he accounts for 10.2 M this year. If he goes we save 8M against the cap.
There is a reason why GM's have a draft board, on it they rate players based on talent and ability to contribute, upgrade and replace a current player. Maybe they drafted him to replace DJ but of the two which do you honestly believe they had in mind as an upgradable replacement? You claim that he needs a bit of a learning curve, but isn't it equally true that he brings a skillset that Garcon will never have? That's not even accounting for his physical attributes.
As far as KC is concerned, whatever dude, you say growth, I say partial career year, considering the competition, we'll see!
