One of the guys was Nadel, and Nadel isn't crazy.

As I stated earlier, he and Bacsik discussed this (6 man rotation) as a statement of fact, not of speculation. It took me back some, b/c I didn't know the team had made this determination.
Right as I think Banny mentioned doing this. I personally don't want to tinker with what we have going with our starters right now. Let Yu pitch his rehab starts and see how things fall out.

This would be a horrible idea on a day to day basis. Everyone in the rotation would hate it except for Darvish. In the grand scheme of things, maybe the Rangers are doing this in an effort to keep Darvish here long term. I'm not sure, but I think I read somewhere that Darvish prefers a 6 man rotation and more rest between starts?

This would seem prudent IMO. No need in making a plan of this magnitude yet.

B/c it hasn't ever been done before doesn't necessarily make it a bad idea. The DH was considered a bad idea at one point as an example.

I believe in Japan, the pitchers pitch once a week, which basically makes for a 6 man rotation. But I don't recall Yu making any type of demand, although I'm sure his agent has "mentioned" it.

For those of you counting, the Rangers won their 4th challenge last night. They've attempted 10.

I wonder if they carry only 2 bench positions in Japan. It is hard to compare it to Japan without knowing what size rosters they carry over there.

It might be a great idea if MLB went to a 26 man roster or if we stopped taking starters out before they reach the 7th inning on a frequent basis and therefore needed less guys in the pen. To me it would be hard for one team to do it on a long term basis without it affecting other parts of the team.

You guys hold down the fort. I won't be on here as much for the next few days. I am flying out to California to see my daughter graduate.

The problem is in Japan this may be a common stategy but not in the states. These guys have prepared themselves in a specific way for the entire career for a start every 5th day. Just concerned it would cause problems with results more than problems with the ire of the pitchers.

Congratulations!

And we'll try to get a few wins while you're out there.

I know less than zero about the way the game of baseball is played in Japan.

But as far as preparing, most of us prepare for work in a specific way for years. But if the situation calls for it, we change, adopt and sometimes even relish in it.

I remember when there was a four man rotation and very few in the BP. Five man was thought to be a bad idea but it worked fine. Six may also. Before it doesn't, let's wait and see.

You guys are hilarious...like we have enough luck to have 6 starting pitchers healthy on the 25 man.

I wish they would just enjoy the luxury of taking their time getting Yu back into the fold and scrap this silly idea, but we will see. Maybe one of the current 5 starters begins to falter so it is a non-factor.

Biggest reason I don't want 6 man rotation is it means 3 man bench. That means one catcher one IF one OF to back up everyone.

Your right. Why I said earlier to let Yu get his rehab in and see how things fall.

This is the biggest problem, no doubt about it.

But one thing to consider is, it would force a re-evaluation of the DH "position" thus giving AL teams more reason to not just have a Prince type player.
