I'm thinking that Simmons will become my favorite player from this draft class. How can you not like a guy who molds his game to be like Dawkins - and Dawkins in turn endorses him as the real deal?

One other thing about this pick - Simmons is who we got for losing Julius Thomas. I think we will make out ok in that deal.

Simmons seems much better in coverage then Dawkins though. If he molds himself as a hitter, leadership, intensity, tackler combined with his better coverage skills we wil lbe doing great.

Thing about Simmons is he is a do it all safety, hard to find a safety who can cover and tackle at a high level and we found him in late round 3. You usually can't find those guys in round 1.

I look at Keanu Neal, a guy I love being from UF and he is a high characer hard worker. Neal is a hitter and tackler, thumper type. Maybe one of the hardest hitting S's to come out in a long time, but he is more in the TJ Ward mold w here you can depend on him in coverage, gotta use him right. Simmons can be used in so many ways. Neal went #17 and Simmons went late round 3 and probably has a better overall game, granted he doesnt have the same impact in run support Neal has.

Outside Karl Joseph I can't think of a lot of S's other then Sean Davis and James Bradberry who may end up at CB or S, that has the duo of tackling and coverage ability that Simmons has.

Funny thing is that Simmons probably becomes our TE coverage guy and will be covering Thomas if Thomas is actually healthy when we play the Jaguars this year.

Mel Kiper called Justin Simmons his steal of the draft.

I have never seen Mel talk so well about a Broncos draft as this one. He loved our first 4 picks.

I agree. Usually those guys give us a C almost every single year and call our draft very underwhelming almost every single season. So it is nice to have a lot of the drat guys actually taking notice of our draft. Honestly listening to Bronco radio this morning it almost seems like they are higher on it than some of the Bronco guys in Denver. Usually they go full homer.

Yeah seems like other then maybe the Tebow year we always have that draft that nobody talks about and nobody really puts down then we always get a C grade and it's just kinda like the unforgotten draft when discussions arise with draft draft chat.

Use to the Ravens, Steelers etc getting love then a few teams like Titans, Browns getting the hate, then their is Denver who is just sorta up and down.

Nice to get some draft love even though it means nothing right now.

Well it does help when you take a QB in the 1st round. That usually gets you talked about a little. Nice though that they are talking just about as much about the other players we took. I honestly thought the rounds that Elway has struggled with the most in the past were the ones that he really nailed it. Our 3rd round pick for the most part has been a disaster. Nate Irving did ok, Hillman showed some decent production last year, Schofield shouldn't be on the roster, and at this point Heuerman because of injury has done nothing. Simmons to me was the best pick of any of our 3rd round guys. Oh sorry forgot about Webster who has shown up decently for us so far in his limited work. Simmons though is the guy I think in 4 years could really be looked at as a huge steal for us and give us finally that Safety flying all over the field playing Center Field.

Simmons surely isn't your typical Broncos 3rd rounder... Seems we often reach in that round minus the Eric Decker pick.

Yeah not sure what Elway is doing. It usually is the round that leaves you going "Who?" I guess he decided to do that in the 2nd round this year picking the guy none of us have hardly heard of.

Time to list some round 3 picks for fun. (I will forget some, trying to remember as many as I can from my time that I started watching the draft in 2nd grade)

Eric Decker
Jason Elam
JD Walton
Brian Griese
Nate Irving
Ryan Harris
Dorsett Davis
Jeremy LeSeuer
Karl Paymah
Domonique Foxworth
Maurice Clarett
Travis McGriff
Reggie Hayward
Chris Watson
Chris Cole
Detron Smith
Michael Schofield
Richard Quinn
Jeff Heurman
Ronnie Hillman
Rondell Jones
Keith Traylor (My first draft ever)

I remember us taking a TE named Reggie Johnson in rd 2 and Mike Croel who most people know around here in round 1 on my first draft ever... I was barely out of diapers. Knew who Croel was never heard of Reggie Johnson who at that time was a high 2nd round pick, after that I started learning everyone. :)

not 3rd rounder but the names Phil Yeboah-Kodie and Butler By'not'e just ran through my head of former draft picks by us.
