I get that but I was pointing out to you we can't know anything about the signing bonus and thus the cap ramifications until the details are released.

Sorry but I have to disagree. If SMGM was not on board I doubt this deal happens.

Sure Dan put on the Spit and Polish with RS1 and sending the coaches. But if SMGM wasnt on board, this doesnt happen. Really if Danny were running things, this would have cost us this years and next years first rounders because Danny would have no issue signing a guy from under the franchise tag and we all know it.

You can disagree all you want. This is what he has done since he became owner. I have told you guys time and time again I know people who work for Dan and this is what Dan does. If you don't like it, he gets rid of you.

It's hilarious watching all the Vinny/Danny fans get excited. We just signed the 2nd oldest CB who is making $10 million or more. We just signed a guy who has been a Pro Bowl player one year. The team that knows him didn't want to pay him that much.

I would have understood this if it was a two year deal, but not a 5 year deal. This front office doesn't get it, fans don't get it. We just keep doing the same thing over and over.

I hope it works, I will cheer for the guy but Scot is on a prove it deal with me from now on.

I'll wait for the real numbers to come out before I get to bothered about the cap implications. Thus far Scot has not allowed us to over extend even one iota. Hell we just signed Culliver last year to a 4 year $32 million dollar and we could cut him now and save as much as $8 million.

So lets talk about how badly we over paid him in two or three days when the REAL numbers come out. :D

That's a lot of money for somebody with one good season, playing behind a fierce pass rush, on a team with an offense that, because of the use of ball control, limited the amount of time that he was on the field.

On the other hand, watching Beckham lose his mind will be fun twice a year.

Also, DeSean Jackson and Junior Gallette seemed to work out just fine in the "paying a premium for other team's free agents" category.

So this was a Dan decision, and not Scot? Can't have it both ways bro.

I think Scot made this move because the team he built to this point, and the players he's targeted in this years draft will compete for the NFC Championship. Just doesn't make sense IMO, if that's not the case.

Shark, you are correct. Need to see the contract details to figure if or how much of an over payment this was.

I think you know I am more worried about a return to ways of the past. To be fair SM's first signing in SF was Nate Clements (CB) to what was considered an over payment at the time. We'll see. Maybe I am all wet. Time will tell.

Sportster... the fact that we have NOT heard of any other moves to make this happen, has me thinking an overpay is mre a wish from the other NFCEast teams than a reality. Did he likely get paid well?? Sure. But I dont think this is a sign that we are back to the ways of the Danny.

Side note... got a new bike.....

I had a Honda once upon time. I flew through the windshield. You might be able to call me chubby boy but then we might have to scrap. :pound:

That is a sweet ride. I think you can take me in the 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile ..... and marathon. I am old school though, if I was going to have another bike it would be an retro Triumph.

Alright I guess I'll share my (mixed) opinions.

- Josh Norman is a great player and we just got a lot better by signing him
- This 1 year wonder talk is a myth. He's been talked about for only a year but he was a very good/great player before last year
- It is risky. We don't know the true $ but it's a lot and COULD backfire.
- I think he's overrated a bit in that he isn't Revis and for somebody who's getting a lot of hype for facing Odell twice a year O'Dell is WAY better than him.
- He fits the scheme and Scott knows what he's doing (I hope)

In conclusion, I think I'm happy. I'm just a little worried. As others have said I'm cautiously optimistic.

Here is your myth:
  • NFC Defensive Player of the Month (September, 2015)
  • NFC Defensive Player of the Week (Week 4, 2015)
  • PFF All-Third Year Team (2014)

There are his career accolades. He was Pro Football Focus 3rd team two years ago. Is that great year? 7 career interceptions, is that great? The Redskins just paid this guy a boat load of money and won the signing contest by quite a bit. Sound familiar?

Will he make the team better? Probably for a year or two. I too am cautiously optimistic. He is on a 5 year prove it deal. We'll see if he is the exception to the rule.
