They may suspect that they're the same groups, but they don't know. Any pre-emptive action is by definition, pretty morally grey.

And no, we haven't been 'indoctrinated' with right or wrong, it's bred in our bones. It's learned behavior, and what sets us APART from animals. We cooperate, thus we survive. A cooperative society will win out over one that doesn't. Small or large.

Sports teams are an awesome microcosm of this. A less talented TEAM will triumph over a more talented group of individuals more times than not.

Do we still have the base underlying nature that we can revert to? You bet. But look at civilization. Periods of anarchy are periodic and short lived.

TWD essentially bends over backwards to come up with a scenario where the anarchy is constant and sustained. Because that simply doesn't happen much in real life.

conflict ----> winner/loser -----> ORDER

the times we spend under 'order' are longer, pretty much always.

Daryl, Sasha and Abraham were attacked not once but twice by these people. The group of bikers mentioned everything belonging to Negan. Maggie made a deal with the leader of the Hilltop to take care of Negan and the saviors permanently. Not much suspecting involved, I'd say they are positive it is the same group.

But they had no reason at that point to suspect the group in the burnt forest were Saviors.

I agree that their decision to attack the satellite station was not unprovoked, though. There was the biker situation, and they had made allies with the Hilltop who described a situation that matched their own experiences with the Saviors.

I just assumed they made the connection since the biker gang said that they normally kill someone right off the bat and the Hilltop mentioned that the saviors did the same when they first met. Both the hilltop and biker gang mentioned Negan.

It was killing two birds with one stone, or three birds. Protecting the hilltop people who are just trying to get by, getting food for Alexandria and taking out a dangerous group that will eventually set it's sights on Alexandria and it's people.

So in next week's promo (which was fire), it looked like Aaron, Abe, Carl, and Rick were running out of a tree line into the road to be cut off by Negan. MAYBE Morgan and Carol, or Dwight's captives could end up being there, or someone else behind Aaron. But I definitely saw those 4.

For comic-watchers:

That dude running from the Barn in armor and with a horse and spear. Totally someone from the Kingdom! SO STOKED they are following through with that storyline! Not sure how they pull off Shiva, if at all. Still happy to see it. Looks like Morgan and Carol will end up there.

Of course Daryl isn't dead.

All this show can do is fake out cliffhanger deaths.

Logic question...

Morgan talks about how he let the wolf go and he eventually saved Denise who saves Carl.

Did Morgan not ask how many people the wolf killed between letting him go and saving Denise? Also...didn't the Wolf put Denise in the danger by kidnapping her? She would have been in the infirmary already for Carl if the wolf was never captured.

I watched the scene about 4 times, and Dwight definitely fired his gun. BUT, the angle of his gun looked off. It didn't look like it would be a head-shot.

If he is dead, though, wouldn't that make next week a bit anti-climactic? Who could they kill that would carry more weight? Rick? Michone? Neither of those will happen.

they are going really hard on making Dwight a super-bad guy. I can see Darryl killing him next season and taking over his storyline post-war. Only if he is not dead, of course.

The 'you'll be fine' line tossed off as the show fades to black doesn't make any sense if he shot him in the head. Well as sarcasm I guess.
