Jets re-sign Bilal Powell

Panthers sign Gino Gradkowski

CJ Anderson had a flight to Chicago but instead switched it to Miami.

We don't really have that kind of money to put down on a RB right now.

I am not worried about RB to be honest. Fix the OL like we are and we will get a good RB through the draft.

100 options out there right now better then Ronnie Hillman who started majority of time for us last year.

Yes, we do actually have the money to put down on a RB right now. We've spent virtually nothing, and if Miami gives CJ a 3 yr/$10 mil deal then I would seriously hope we'd loosen the purse strings and match.

I assume the 100 options out there right now better than Hillman was a joke, right?

The issue right now Cap Wise is that every team is expected with the top-51 contracts to be under the cap. So signing a big deal when we might be bringing in another big deal with either Von Miller or say Colin Kaepernick means we need some cap space to operate. Yes we can renegotiate with Kaepernick when we get him but we still have to have the cap space before hand to get what he is getting in San Fran.

I would also point with CJ that he was in the dog house most of the year with the coaches. I think most of us could see that he was the better RB of him and Hillman. The problem is almost every training camp he has shown up out of shape and has shown he takes time into the season before he is a full go. It is why he explodes the 2nd half of the season but struggles for the first 8 or so games. Not exactly what you want in your RB that you would be committing decent money to if you matched the deal. Believe me I hope we get CJ back as I do like him but let's say they let him walk and bring in a guy like Alfred Morris for cheaper. My guess is the coaches might want that option more.

The coming into camp out of shape thing is why I wonder about Gase and the dolphins looking at him. I guess he is familiar but didn't Gase knck the guy for being out of shape?

Oh he got bumped for 3rd or 4th string one year because of how upset the coaches were with his shape.

About as much of a joke as Ronnie Hillman has been?

No, it was not a joke.

Anderson is gonna get more then 10 mil. If it was that easy of course, match.

I never said we couldn't afford a 3 years 10 mil, or that we couldn't afford CJ Anderson.

I said we can't spend 33 million on a RB like Chris Ivory which was the post I was referencing.

It is apparent that with us low tendering CJ Anderson we aren't that thrilled with him. Most likely due to injuries. He is a good tough runner but he is very replaceable at a fairly easy position to rebound from. I wouldn't mind him back, but if we lose him I am aint gonna go all dramatic over it.

Just look at the teams who "Won" FA last season, and how they fared.

Well, that's generally every year. It's usually the poor teams that think they can sign big names to big deals and become instantly better. But it's usually the consistent teams like the Denvers, Pits, New Englands, Seattles, etc. that don't do a lot of that. And those are the teams that are making the playoffs year in and year out.

We have made some FA splashes that have made our D the juggernaut it is, but nothing that broke the bank. We aren't out there giving the Malik Jackson's crazy money. And look at where Denver is, then look at the Jags. I like our positioning a lot better.

Also hoping the Broncos can come to terms with a deal for Von Miller before the end of next year. I'm guessing talks will be on and off as free agency goes on as well.

I would say the Broncos are paying guys what every other team in the league would pay them. When we signed Ware there were 3-4 teams all willing to pay him exactly what we paid him. Same with Talib. Ward actually signed for less than most thought. So Elway knows the value of a player and just doesn't overpay. Yes it means we sometimes will lose guys like Malik and Osweiler because of one team just going above and beyond what anybody else would do but it is also how we continue to remain competitive every year.

Also posted this on another thread but 532 players switched teams this past year in FA. Only 4 made it to the Pro Bowl. Considering how many players went to the Pro Bowl this past year (more than any other year) that should show that updating through FA isn't the cure all that you would hope. Broncos have been one of the fortunate few that FA has really worked well in our favor so far.

Hillman may have had an up and down year, but he was far from a joke and is certainly better than 99 other options out there. You say you're "ain't gonna go all dramatic over it" when it comes to losing CJ, so don't act like Hillman was some 4th string scrub. We all know he had his issues, but he also had huge games for us.

Also, you think CJ is going to get more than like a $10mil deal over 3 years? Knowshon hardly got that, and he performed way better than CJ did. Oddly the comparison is with the Dolphins again being the potential suitor for the FA, but you know what I mean.

CJ will get more as Moreno had a much longer injury history. No team wanted to touch him with a 10-foot poll. We pretty much got the very last drop of ability out of him. Feel bad as he was a very talented player just couldn't get over all of his injuries. CJ though was a Pro Bowler just 2 seasons ago and while he had some nagging injuries this past year it didn't really keep him out much. Throw in there are a lot of ex-Bronco coaches around the league. Crazy to think of all the coaches now that have left over the last 5 years since Elway took over.

Do you think he's gonna get a Lamar Miller type deal? I guess I hadn't thought about it till now.
