Absolutely, all those hand sizes, arm lengths and 300+ lb guys running sub 5>0 40s is great. Use that information if you have two FOOTBALL players to make a decision which you like better. I remember people posting in the media on here Griffin is 6'2" ... YAY, Griffin runs a 4.4 40 .... YAY .... one bust and 4 draft picks later that means nothing.

Those lousy combine guys like Brady, Romo, Wilson etc. can play. Get football players.

The NFL scouting combine is back this week, which means the 2016 NFL Draft buzz machine is set to get fired up for the New England Patriots -- even if they don't have a first round pick to work with.

For Patriots fans, it's also the anniversary (give or take a week) of the ultimate example of why you can't really rely too much on the results of the drills.

Back in 2000, Tom Brady went into the NFL scouting combine as a kinda-doughy quarterback prospect out of Michigan and wasn't exactly a physical specimen at that point (playing a big part in why he fell to No. 199 overall in that draft).

The most famous scene from Brady's combine appearance, though, was his infamous 40-yard dash, which he ran in 5.28 seconds.


While Brady continues to get flack over the drill, it wasn't even the slowest time among quarterbacks that year. That honor goes to Louisville's Chris Redman, who was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round (and spent the 2004 season with the Patriots).

We can joke now because Brady's developed into one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history and has four Super Bowl rings to smooth over and jabs he may receive over his foot speed coming out of college.

so what i get is if we go d/line we will get a solid pro but not a game changer. at 21 that should be ok or we could draft d/line later .

First you blew right by the point of my post. The combine focuses on measurables. The same thing that helped bring Griffin here at the cost of 3 No. 1s and a No. 2 pick. I think there is a lot more to a football player than being a shorts warrior.

As far as Romo (undrafted) and too short Wilson (drafted 3rd round) ... I would say they had issues too. I am not even sure Romo was invited. So my point was these guys are good QBs who were not at the top of somebody's draft board in part due to their combine.

You mentioned Romo, Wilson, and Brady having poor combines. I already knew of Brady's . I wanted to see proof of Wilson's and Romo's. Have you provided that yet?
