What an idiot. Close? I guess the fact that the Broncos won't clinch the division until week 17 and a playoff berth until week 16 as opposed to week 12-13 like they have the past few seasons maybe is what he means by close.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Chiefs ousted by the Texans. The Chiefs O-line still is nothing special, and the Texans defense has been playing well north of solid ball lately. I question that Weeden and that offense could consistently move the ball against the Chiefs defense but let's not forget: this Texans team went into Cincy, scored just 10 points, and still won the game. I think the Texans would be able to win a low scoring affair, something like 16-13.

With that said, if the Chiefs make it out of the WC round, I hope they wind up in Denver for the Divisional Round. Can you imagine the wailing and nashing of teeth if the Broncos are the team to end the Chiefs season? It would almost be worth seeing them actually win a playoff game just to see it.

All this assumes the current playoff seeding holds up, of course!
I think the Chiefs may have to travel to Foxboro before they go to Mile High..... considering the Bengals get a little healthier at QB.

Aside from the Cardinals who seem to be the most solid all around, any team that makes playoffs has a shot of winning at least their first playoff game or losing it IMO. Seen vulnerabilities in every team but Cards. Going to be crazy for sure.

"The Chiefs have already clowned them in their building, and sans five turnovers, waxed them in Week 2. Kansas City is a better team than Denver, and both teams know it."

He commented back to me saying that the Broncos deserve to be where they are but that they will do jack squat in the playoffs because of their offense. I tweeted him back saying I think the same thing about the Chiefs. Offensively if they didn't have a defense that could turn the ball over on a regular basis for them they would be regarded as one of the 10 worst offenses in football. They are 25th in yards this season. IF they run into a team that doesn't turn the ball over in the playoffs they are screwed.

I'll be nervous no matter who Denver plays honestly. Which Denver team takes the field? The one we saw in first half vs Cincy, or the 2nd half team? Hope it's the latter. No matter where they play or who, they're going to have to play like that 2nd half team for 4 QTRS.Hope they have that mentality and Sunday vs SD will be a serious indicator.

Hey, guys, now is a good time to drop in on a Chiefs fan and remind him of what a tool he is. This guy predicted the Broncos would miss the playoffs. I've taken the time throughout the season to remind him what a stupid prediction that is. As you see above, he walked it back a little in a conversation with CD but said the Broncos would do "jack squat" in playoffs. As the last man standing from the AFC, this may be a good time to point out how wrong and biased he is!

Did you read his article today? He pretty much trashed Aqib Talib because Talib said he didn't learn anything on how to stop the Patriots from watching the Chiefs film. Which hey honestly should be true. They played off-man coverage or off zone coverage and Brady tore them apart. So I guess if they learned anything it was what not to do. Yeah figured I would point out the article again sometime this week.

Well @iknowftbll I tweeted him and he tweeted back "you're a guy that holds onto a stranger's column for six months...it's probably time to relax and let it go. If you don't like my stuff, don't read it, not a concern."

Told him it is all in good fun just like to get in a few jabs since he loves to rip on the Broncos so much. Not going to last long in journalism if you can't handle a few troll tweets.

I never really go back and read predictions or anything after games have been played as I like to focus more on whats coming...That being said, this past week we got trashed pretty hard so I was left with little choice. One of the good ones was on an NFL network podcast where they asked "which QB has the most at stake if they were to go to the Super Bowl" Everyone answered, Brady, Cam and Palmer. Someone pointed out how much it would mean for Peytons legacy and his response,
"Yeah it would obviously mean the most for him but im not even considering him in the question because he has literally no chance of getting to the Super Bowl."
We were overlooked THAT much against the pats (at home no less)
Don't think hindsight was necessary for that one

Yeah I don't usually like to go back either. This is more just this certain writer. Everybody gets predictions wrong but this guy isn't just about writing about how great the Chiefs are but he takes every opportunity to tear down the Broncos that he can find. Heck his piece he wrote today instead of it being about the Chiefs upcoming off season it was about Talib and how he is a trash player. He is a guy that I think is something like 25-27 years old and hasn't figured out that in writing you can't always write like a fan. To me that is what he is more so than a decent writer in everything the Chiefs do is perfect and every other rival is just trash. To me that won't get you too far in writing unless you live in an area that has fans exactly like that. Kansas City to me isn't quite one of those places.

This afternoon my wife and I went over to a friend's house. The mid-Atlantic Coast was hit by a pretty serious snow storm by local standards and our friend's neighbor across the street was digging his car out of a small ditch when we arrived. Our friend's husband wasn't home and the estrogen levels in the dialogue had me looking out the window at this man as he dug; his car so pitched into the ditch that the rear wheels weren't even touching the ground. I finally walked out and stopping at the back of our own vehicle to ensure I had a tow cable, asked the man if he needed a hand. We have a Toyota Sequoia and I've done a few vehicle recovery operations in my time, so I figured I could be a help to this man. And sure enough, he was glad for a hand. We pulled his car out and aside from some minor cosmetic damage, he was all set for work tomorrow. We shook hands and he thanked me. I told him I was happy to help and returned to my friend's home. A few minutes later he knocked on the door and handed me a bottle of Blanton's single barrel bourbon. It turns out he's the manager of a liquor store and had a few bottles of "surplus" on hand and wished to thank me for my help.

When my friend's husband returned home we...uh..."enjoyed" more than a few drinks from the gift bourbon. Only then did we settle in for a movie and only then did I actually read Matt V's latest. And only then did I comment. But despite my bourbon influenced reply, I believe my comments make a lot of sense. I'll let you all be the judge:

Weak, Matt, as usual. Dislike Talib all you want. He's certainly not the most obvious role model across the league. Still his quote is true. The Chiefs got owned by the Patriots while the Broncos owned them. The Broncos are the better team: better than the Patriots and yes, better than the Chiefs.
Oh, and the Broncos defense didn't allow 24 points. They allowed 17. The other 7 came against the offense on a pick-6. Up 14-0 the Chiefs should have been able to close. Good teams do. The Chiefs didn't.
Matt, I have no idea what to expect in this Broncos-Panthers Super Bowl, but I know this: the Broncos are in their 8th Super Bowl while the Chiefs are in their off season. Think that over when you trash on the Broncos.

I'm with CD on this one. Short of fan sites about the Broncos, some of my favorite sports reading is on parallel sites for other AFC West teams. And because the Chiefs have more or less been the Broncos biggest rival in the past few years (31-17, 2 playoff runs) so what Chiefs fans are writing about the Broncos is fun for me to read. Especially when they try to pass for semi-professional writers. Matt V. is especially bad because his bias and Broncos hate is obvious. Then when he gets a little jarring from Broncos fans on one of the many times he's wrong about the Broncos, he's rude and immature. Even a semi-pro writer holds himself to a higher standard than Matt V. does.

In the larger picture, this team has been written off all season. Your story about the NFL Network podcast doesn't surprise me at all. As the AFCCG neared halftime, even Jim Nantz, an excellent broadcaster, said, "NOBODY expected this to happen." But he was wrong: this game did not surprise us Broncos fans (except maybe duffman). The press sold out to pronounce the Patriots winners of the AFC that they should lose a lot of credibility. Thankfully the games are not decided by the press.

I think your bourbon influenced post did just fine! To me every team has a player that isn't a great role model. Sean Smith was suspended for 4 games earlier in the year. Should we be acting like he is some great role model? Then to attack Talib's game...While yes he has had some bad ones in his career he has also had some down right dominant performances. Should I point out how many bad plays their great rookie Corner had this year? I mean he got burned for the first 8 games of the year. He also isn't a great role model and got kicked off his college team.

To me it just seems pretty immature the day after your rival makes it to the Super Bowl to post an article like that. Heck look at most of the Pats fans on this board and most of them have been very congratulatory towards us as fans. They handled the loss with class. Congratulate the Broncos and move on to the off season is what the Chiefs writers should do. Like I said though just a couple of tweets from me that I thought were pretty harmless and he lost it on me. Every time I have tweeted him he has been that way. This is why I love many of the Bronco writers in that they treat trolling with humor. That is what you should do. Just laugh it off and move on. To me this game has reached that point for him though that this is life or death almost. I mean when they were 1-5 he wrote this whole article about how he just doesn't even care about the team anymore and how he has given up on cheering for them and just was a post that felt like he was almost crying as he wrote it. I think he just needs to take a step back and remember this is a game that is meant to entertain.

I didn't mean anything in my last post to sound vindictive against these people or anything, I just found it interesting that what I viewed as a fairly even game with either team winning but not easily, most of the popular media saw as a foregone conclusion. It was just so much more noticeable to me this time so I had to go back and check it out
As far as the other writers who go out of their way to trash people needlessly like Matt V. supposedly does I always have a hard time taking them seriously. Thats totally ok, a lot of how ridiculous they are is probably just to get readers anyways. Sometimes it is worth reading just to have a laugh

I found this on one Fansided. I think the writer is one of the Arrowhead Addict guys. I LOVE this kind of stuff! Enjoy!

The Denver Broncos will regress, miss playoffs in 2015
So i finally bothered to read this and to be honest its not as bad as I expected. Looking back you can say 'the broncos are in the Super Bowl so that was a terrible prediction' and to a certain extent that is true but it isn't soooooo bad.
First off the chiefs made the playoffs so his thoughts on them being better is reasonable based on results. The AFC west was a close call to the end.
Now his arguments for why we will struggle. Bad O-Line, aging manning, our front in the 3-4(aka no nose/pot roast)...All of these were things I was worried about before the year and to be fair our O-Line has struggled and manning has had a terrible (possibly worst) statistical year. The good news is our D was better than most people thought. I know before the season a lot of you guys and myself both thought they could be great.
Really my only big problem is how he cherry picks with statistics like his hating on Talib and TJ Ward or suffering with the 3-4.
Another thing that cracks me up about it though is... " In a division with Jamaal Charles and Melvin Gordon, Denver could be exposed in the run game. With a bad run defense comes an impacted pass defense, with the linebackers having to cheat up." Yeah those two really tore up the league this year. I had very low expectations for Gordon coming into the season anyways
