who cares about it ? it couldnt have been that bad with those stats

Yes it could have. In his last seven games, his highest passing total was 273 yards, he never registered a passer rating of more than 100, and had a TD / INT ratio of 10 / 5. More than that, his body language looked poor and the Pack was riddled with dissension.

Manning had 320 yds in that game. Difference was that they had 3 turnovers & Rodgers rarely throws picks. The Giants also have no running game & their defense is horrible. This is considerably different than the Packers. Kind of refutes your entire response.

Are you serious? The only reason why Manning had 320 yards was due to the garbage time defense Barry employed after we went up 20-0. Did you watch the game? And those picks were a product of a press coverage defense. To be sure, he didn't play press coverage all the time, but people like Breeland and even Quinton Dunbar did a hell of a job in man coverage on OBJ.

Really - so you just dismiss the INT the Skins had when the Giants were ready to score? That could have made a huge difference in the outcome. Bottom line - the team did what it needed to do in that game. The players won that game & lost the game last nt - not the coaches.

If you paid attention, we won that game by getting in the face of Giants' WRs. And yes, I remember Dunbar's INT when he was covering Randle. So? I'm talking about an overall gameplan. Rodgers and his receivers were simply not themselves coming into the game. His receivers couldn't generally get open deep and on the few instances they did he misfired. This had been a huge problem for him and his WRs coming into this game. Then they went simple to throwing the ball short. Instead of playing press coverage to take that away, we let him carve us up.

If you listen to commentators prior to this game, they were saying that we should stop the run and dare Rodgers to beat us. They acknowledged how ridiculous this would normally sound, but stated, correctly, that given how Rodgers was performing, that was the gameplan to follow.

The Pack finished 23rd overall in offense and 16 in scoring offense. And this took into account all the success they had in the first six weeks of the season. If you listened to all of the commentators prior to the game, they were all noting how the Pack couldn't blow the top of any defense and that we should play man / press coverage.

You're not getting what they're saying and the reality when we played the game yesterday: he was not playing at a HOF level; in turn, Cousins was playing at an elite level. This is NOT to say that Rodgers is not a HOF QB or that Cousins is an elite one; rather, it focuses in on trends, and not what overall season stats you cited. If you want a better overall season stat, why not the ones I cited to you about the Pack's overall and scoring offense?

The Packers are one of the best organizations in the NFL and I highly doubt they were riddled with dissension. Where do you hear this stuff?

Some local blogs. One (rumored) rift was between Rodgers and McCarthy. He apparently didn't appreciate his playcalling and there was quite a bit of tension arising out of that.

I did do that. How about playing press coverage and sitting on passes. We did that pretty damn well when playing Eli, OBJ, Rueben Randle, and Dwayne Harris. And there's no way you can tell me that when we played the Giants the second time around, the Packers passing attack was anywhere close to the Giants' passing offense.

Ok cool, so you want to press the receivers and play man. No combo coverages, no two high safety. Are you playing straight 3-4, no nickel? LBs are staying in the box? What happens if there are 2 WRs and 1 TE and 1 RB? How are you covering that? Are we rushing 3 or 4? Which outside LB rushes if we are playing straight man, weak side? Are we doing the same thing on every down?

He certainly did and that was always an issue. But I thought Barry could do something to address that, beginning with the fact that Bahktiari was out, their o-line was banged up, and they didn't present a deep threat. When you have an offense like that, you can take chances you might not with other teams like the Cardinals. If we ever faced them, that's a whole other story.

BTW can you give me the technical term for sitting on passes? Does that mean you don't let a receiver get wide open?

We play man on their WRs like we did with the Giants when they started the small ball. By doing that, we provide our OLBs like Kerrigan more time to get after Rodgers? Did you see what happened when Rodgers tried to hold on to the ball? To McCarthy's credit, that ended pretty quickly. And if you want to see a gameplan on defending a better passing attack, go review the second Giants game. Barry somehow got that right.

i dont think he could with dunbar and blacmon and the 3 day old signing williams . with goldston hurting and hall new to the position

we are all good at second guessing but i believe barry and the staff just couldnt do what they wanted to do to personnel. much like we couldnt open up the offense with a young o/line

Ummm, no. You either play press coverage or, if you're in zone, creep up and leverage underneath coverage. Not too hard.
