Very proud of the season the Skins had this year. We were expected last but came in first. We discovered that we have a great GM and a possible franchise QB as well.

We have some issues obviously and need to address them in order to take the next step. In no order:

1. Strong Safety
2. WR
3. DE
4. DT/NT
5. Free Safety
6. Nickel CB
7. ILB

Thats all I can think of. I think we will have another great draft but I am curious what cap room we will have and what FA we will target. Obviously signing Cousins is our first priority but I would like to know what the Front Office views as the priorities. I would like to see us address the defense in all three areas (Secondary, LB and DLine) and add a playmaker at WR to compliment Jackson. I am also curious if they believe Foster and Compton are the answers at ILB. We also need to see if Morris will be back or do we want to move on.

From a starters perspective, I am counting 6 positions that need to have a starter signed (QB, FS, SS, DE, NT, WR). I am also thinking we need at least an upgrade at one of the ILB spot. Outside of that, we have a decent core of players. I trust SM to address these issues plus get us some depth.

I would add center and LG to the mix for sure. Litch CAN be solid, but he doesnt have enough weight to be a starter and is getting long in the tooth. And unless Long or Kojo step up, we need another LG in the event that Lavauo is hampered.

Side note... Im really looking forward to see ho KC develops with a FULL off season as the starter and hopefully a #1 WR that is taller than my mother in law.

My bad...I forgot about that. I agree, Center is a must. I wish we had more draft picks and CAP room. We have a lot of holes...LOL

OH I wasnt saying that is ALL we need, but I am saying we damn sure need to address the position this off season. Along with LG, FS,SS, WR (taller than a hobbit), And i would also throw RB in there. JOnes cant stay healthy, and Morris is likely gone.

I think Long or Kojo will have to step up. We have invested a lot of money and draft picks in the OLine and Callahan will coach them up.

That being said, the DLine does need some help as Hatcher indicated he is retiring. Not sure if we need to re-sign Pot Roast. I would like a high round pick to go toward NT in all honesty. Games are won in the trenches.

Pretty good list. Don't expect to get all of these this off season. As for how SM priorities these, all you will get from him is he wants football players that love to play and want to be the best. And, in a way, I agree with him. We need some playmakers on defense, I don't care what position. We have a couple that are emerging, like Preston Smith, but need a real ball hawk, or two, in the secondary.

Yep, add RB to the list as well. Good news is that SM can scout and I am sure some late round picks will contribute. I do like that we have Breeland and Culliver at CB so we at least have some solid starters there. We are weak at Safety as usual. To be honest, on paper, we over-achieved this year. We need to get more talent on this roster.

Smith needs to start next year. This was a great draft class and if we can draft 3-4 players who can start or be major contributors, we should be fine. I know we can find at least 3 starters in FA???

How much cap will be have. I see a ton of cuts coming (Lauvau, Roberts)

Rough guess, depending on who we restructure/cut and what we do with Griffin..... Around $23-25 million AFTER the Cousins deal... unless we go ape shit and sign Kirk to a deal that sets the market for QBs.

Smith needs to learn to play the run. Did you see those 4 big runs Lacey and Cobb had in the second half? They were all because Smith was in there and didn't set the edge.

By the way, Jason Hatcher is considering retirement. Said he will decide quickly on that issue.

IMO, he should retire. He's expensive, old, and always injured. Did he even play today?

Looking back on it, Hatcher was a bad signing . . . by Bruce Allen. Gave too much money to a player that was old and was injured a lot. Thank God old Bruce isn't calling football operations shots anymore.

IF we designate Hatcher and Roberts June 1st cuts, Cut Griffin, and get stuck franchising Cousins, it leaves us with around $10.5 million before any other moves.

As I expect Cousin's actual cap hit to be around $9 million, it would actually leave us with $20.5 million before any other moves.

I also expect Garcon and Jackson to have lower cap numbers if they are still here.

At the end of the day, I expect we will have just shy of $30-35 million in cap space to work with, minus $5 million for the rookie class and $5 million asa cushion for next season. So after Kirk, who do we really need to break the bank for?
