We better blitz Manning

Two starters out for the Giants including their Center. That means the backup has to handle the line calls. We should blitz up the middle. I know we are thin at CB but playing coverage is not going to work against Manning. Must send at least 5 or 6 rushers at all times for passing downs. Kerrigan is just not a one man wrecking crew this year so we are forced to bring pressure. Especially on 3rd down.

Not sure who you have been watching. Barry has played zone all year and tried to get there with 4. This defense plays much differently than the defense of the past few years in scheme. I would love to see what you are suggesting but I'll believe it when I see it.

We simply don't have the talent to run JB Def/Tampa 2 scheme. Send the front four and drop seven soft coverage scheme. You need a good front four and LB's like Tampa did. However I do concur "what is wrong with changing it up a little bit to cover up for your lack of talent". JB does not blitz. Hey other teams blitz KC from time to time even when they have other deficiencies like injuries or lack of talent. The last time we played the Giants they injuries to the OL. Blitzing a team that gets the ball out in 2 seconds doesn't make sense to me. They'll just throw it over the rush to a vacant spot. I'm no DC but it seems to me the way to stop a quick throw offense is to press and not lay off 8 yards. We had a good press corner but Barry chose to use him differently, now he's done for the year.

I believe the predominant defense employed by the Skins the last time the Skins/Giants played was also a soft coverage zone. I think Eli got full on rocky road during that game. The biggest negatives for the Skins playing a soft zone is that their back seven strike no fear whatsoever into opposing players.They don't punish or make anyone pay for catching passes in front of them and worst of all. They're shitty tacklers.

I agree with Dave about press coverage and blitzing. Though if we go by the last time the Giants and Skins played. If/when the Giants have the ball anywhere from the Skins 45 yd ln to the Skins 30 yd ln. That would be the times I'd send a blitz as Eli went deep twice from those areas. Once for a 30 yd TD to Beckham and the other a 41 yd TD to Randle. Both happened in the 4th quarter so that might be something to keep in mind as well.

JMO opinion but mixing coverages with occasional blitzes is the way I would play. Then too if you can play zone like the Panthers did against the Pokes ..... their first two picks were on zone defense. Of course we do not have the ILBs and safeties that Carolina has.

Breed makes an important point. If you want to play zone and keep everything in front of you then you HAVE to tackle.

tackling is everything here . it will be hard to pressure eli so we have to limit yac . and yes we need to be in press coverage and challenge those wrs
