At the beginning of the year the experts had us rated 32 out of 32 because of the questions at qb. Kirk has not been the problem this year. Side note. This Giants game is the biggest of his career thus far. A win and we are in first place by ourselves, considering the tie breakers. Better division record than the Giants and beat the Eagles already.

A loss and we are essentially 3 games behind the Giants with 5 to go. 2 in the loss column with the sweep makes it 3. This is our season. This is Kirk's chance to get this season back on track and make December interesting.

Which ones do you think Kirk is better than?
well, he has played better, this year, than Flacco, Winston, Luck and has played about equal to Ryan and Cutler. Now this does not mean that I would take KC over some of these guys (clearly I would take Luck and Ryan anytime over KC), but your portrait of his play this year isn't based on performance. Something else is skewing your opinion of him.

No Im just not letting things like Luck being banged up or a down year for Flacco when everything is going wrong in Baltimore affect my opinion of our quarterback.

And to be fair there are QBs not on that list who have similar stats too that I doubt you would say are as good.

Not to mention when watching Kirk he doesnt always look so hot. You can call me biased if you want.

See my other thread for a more complete Kirk take lol.

I for one never said that and I didn't understand why anyone felt that way.

Winston has been super impressive for a rookie. I don't think you're giving him his due. Statistically they're pretty similar, but I think he's easily the better player.

Luck has been terrible. If someone told us at this point in the season KC was having a better year than Luck we'd have all been in heaven....

I knew everybody would start changing their minds on KC after this game. Sadly, I am one of his biggest supporters today after everybody thought I was insulting him last week. He is what he is...an unknown. It takes longer to evaluate a QB than just a few games. BTW...the INT against Carolina was not a bad pick...it was a bad throw if he was throwing to the underneath WR.

Kirk completed 73% of his passes with a pick and a TD. He gave up two blind side sack fumbles which most people would place squarely on the O-line. Against one of the better defenses and teams in the league right now, I would say his performance on the road was not the reason we lost. The entire team quit Sunday after the bad call against us. Give Kirk even a shred of a running game, and some decent blocking this week, and once again people will be asking not if we should resign him... but for how much.

You seem to misunderstand what I am saying. I actually thought KC played pretty well. I do not mind the INT because it was an errant throw, not a bad decision. That happens. The fumbles I have an issue with. Yes the OL was bad, or more likely LeRibeus but you still have to hold onto the ball. If you get blindsided because the C does not know the snap count that is entirely on the C. If you get blindsided because you didn't shift protection, that's another. I am not exactly sure what happened on each.

When I said I was right, I was talking about people turning on him...again.

ON three of the five sacks Kirk took, and on the two fumbles in particular, the D-lineman got to him totally untouched. Both fumbles were on blind side sacks. Now either Trent Williams just became shit over night... or the snap count has been majorly off. I cant really fault Kirk for the fumbles when his arm is back to throw and the D-lineman gets there untouched on a timing pattern.

Did KC complete a pass of 10+ yards in the 2nd half? Aside from the 56 yarder to Djax, and yeah, it was the fuckin tits, and the 3 early passes to Garcon, 43 yards in total, and all of which went for nice gains and 1st downs. I was wondering if Kirk's trying to make his comp % look good or is Gruden really that much of chickenshit.

IMO the game was lost on Reed's holding penalty negating KC's excellent 23 yard gain and turning a 1st n goal from the 3 yard line. Into a 2nd and 20 from wherever the fuck, and on the next play Ealy's gets a sack strip.

The Skins were done at that point.

yeah that was a shit series of events. Still surprised they couldn't muster even a hint of offense even in garbage time mode. You can tell a team has just mailed it in when that happens.

Don't disagree with your assessment that Cousin's needed to go downfield more in the 2nd half. Not shocked that he didn't because he was getting killed on deeper drops. I pointed this out during the game. For the Skins to be effective going downfield right now they need to not be in HOLY SHIT we need to score because we are down 14 (or more) mode. Once Carolina had the Redskins in that position they turned up the heat and did it effectively. I thought the corner blitz to start the 2nd half was brilliant. In many cases the D with that type of lead would just protect against big plays with coverage.

I agree that Reed's holding penalty was a big turning point. Carolina just made a play whenever they needed to make a play and really only gave up 7 points.

Cousins brought the team back twice earlier in the season. I think Carolina was aware of that and game planned perfectly to keep that from happening. Could be why they are 10-0.

Where is the idea coming from that everyone is now turning on Cousins & think he is not the answer after the Panthers game? That is huge generalization & frankly not true. Sure there are a handful of posters who think that way, but a lot of them have been pretty much Cousins naysayers all along. If you took a poll of the general fan base & even perhaps all Skins fans on this forum I believe that you would see that most folks still support Cousins over any other QB on the roster & want him back as the starter next season (barring disaster for the rest of the season). I certainly feel that way.

Just because one or two posters make a lot of posts & a lot of noise against Cousins does not mean that this represents the feelings of most of us. Time to try and discuss this objectively and stop labeling everyone with broad strokes. HTTR

Sadly...you believe everybody is being described in one statement. You need to realize there are no absolutes in this world.

I am still a Cousins supporter. I think he has done what they have asked him to do. Unless you are Marino the position normally takes several years to master. I think labeling him a career backup or anything else at this point is pretty silly.

Unless McCloughan finds a better alternative I think he is back and we hope he continues to improve. Everyone that thinks they have this guy figured out in 10 starts (yes I know he had some others but under a different circumstance) is way smarter than I am.

I don't? You are basically the one lumping everyone together when you make your generalizations. I also don't know why you categorize this as being a sad issue. You need to lighten up. Again - we are all fans of the team so no need to pit everyone against each other. Let's just have a discussion & at the end of the day either acknowledge that others have made good pts or simply agree to disagree. Not that tough of a concept.

The funny thing about the one or two posters who make a lot of noise about cousins (since I assume this means me) is that we want kirk to start and come back next year. People just can't comprehend that we don't want to bow down to the guy yet. I don't think there's anybody on this forum who thinks kirk shouldn't start.
