in a professional manner...I like Friedman and he's absolutely right, the current system does not work.

Many times, we excuse referees for missing a call by saying the game is too fast. And you know what? That's fair. The games is fast, even for two referees.

That's why it's so hard to understand why, if the war room determines replays to be inconclusive, the call reverts back to the ice. O'Halloran doesn't have a monitor to watch the replays. If Colin Campbell, Mike Murphy and Co. can't tell if it's a goal reviewing five angles in slo-mo, it's not a goal.

Blues goalie Ty Conklin on #Blackhawks’ reviewed goal: “Do we really have to make it that obvious that the league wants them in?

me thinks that might be a fine

Wow!! That was the first time I saw that "goal" and it's time to blow up the War Room.

How they can call that a goal is unbelievable! He definitely kicked it and it sure as hell doesn't look like it crossed the line. What were they looking at?

Even the biggest Hawks fans can't possibly think that goal should have counted and as he said with what was on the line in that game that is a damn shame !!

Question for any fans here that know how this replay works. If the ref asks the war room to see if the puck crossed the line is that all they look at even if it's obvious he kicked it? If that's the case the systems broke.

O'Halloran called it a goal on the ice which is the first problem. From where he was on the ice, there was no way in hell he could see if that puck crossed the line. And he missed the entire kicking motion as well.

Then the war room saw 2 things...

1. Hossa did not kick it, and

2. They saw the puck clearly over the line.

Give me a break, if they saw both of those things i am the fucking pope!

actually they saw him kick it but they say he then touched it with the blade of his stick thus negating the kicking motion element of the call ... i dont see where he touched it with his stick

/Blues broadcaster Darren Pang heard from the War Room and was told that they could not find indisputable evidence to overturn O'Halloran's goal call on the ice and they felt that Hossa did indeed touch the puck after it went off his skate.

Rule 49.2 states that goals are allowed if a player kicks the puck and it deflects off their own stick and into the net, but what evidence is there to suggest Hossa even touched the puck with his stick?

It was definitely a kicking motion by Hossa, but it's tough to tell if Hossa touched the puck. Does the puck move slightly from his stick or from the rebound off the post? Very hard to tell.

and i agree as well, there is no way hossa got his stick on the puck after he kicked it

I don't see where he touched it. This is the problem with the NHL they will NOT admit it when they blow a call. The NFL does when they send out their reports on Tuesday and I think it give more credibility to the league if they do this.

It doesn't make it any easier for the teams and fans that took it on the chin but just the fact the league admits and acknowledges that the ref's are human and made a mistake helps a bit.

The NHL refuses to do this and it makes the league look the the fucking WWE at time's.

They blew it, admit the mistake and move on.

This is why I asked about what they look at in my first reply (post #4) in this topic. He doesn't mention anything about the stick touching the puck. As you said he just say's the puck crossed the line.

I was flabbergasted by the call, but over the course of the season this shit evens out. I remember a vancouver goal this season that clearly left the zone and should have been offsides. The Canucks won that game by 1

lol and I thought the goal Selanne kicked in for Anaheim last night was bad.

It's nice that the person who wrote the article isn't getting all conspiracy theory on us, but really how can you argue with someone who thinks there is a conspiracy when you see something like that? I mean that goes beyond being full retard to call that a goal. If video review won't overrule the call on the ice, why even have it?
