Yep. I called "ball game" in the game thread right after that homer. Arrieta was not going to give up anything last night.

It would have been totally awesome to have him do the same thing in game one against St. Louis.

Link?

Was a pretty cool call by Ernie on that blast

Why are the Astros starting this McHugh guy?

Kazmir? Fiers? McCullers? Which one isn't even gonna get to start?

I actually don't care who win the AL as long as it is not KC but I'm kinda hoping for a Texas showdown in the ALCS

Ha! I'm with you, I don't want KC to win. I want them bounced in the first round.

I don't particularly like any of the AL teams, but I think I dislike the Blue Jays the least. Fuck Texas. Houston's ok.

I think I'm pulling for the Cubs, and if it's not them, then the Dodgers.

You know McHugh was a 19-game winner this year, right? Fiers or McCullers can sit.

Yeah. Cuz wins are the best stat for a pitcher.

Lmao please tell me you were sarcastic

LOL.

Anyways, with regards to stats that actually mean something, a decent argument could be made that he was the second best starter on the staff in the 2nd half. Honestly, you can't really go wrong with any of the other guys. That's a solid rotation. McHugh had a good enough season to earn a game 2 start.

Wins are not a great stat for pitchers: we all know this. But McHugh was one of the 3 best pitchers on the Astros this year(and last year) no matter how you slice it.

Yeah. Do to McCullers being so young and seemingly(when I notice) getting into a bit of trouble early in games/long balls he could be a good option to sit.

But I feel Kazmir vs all their lefties and to seperate him and Keuchel would be a good game 1 starter to set the pace.

Fuck Keuchel and his beard. I hope the Astros and the Royals both lose the first round.

Ehh...I'm not a huge fan of WAR being the determining factor for every baseball-related argument that comes up. That said, everyone knows that McHugh is solid. How often do mediocre pitchers win 19 games?

I dislike WAR.

There isn't even a singular formula for it. FTS.
