John Jay High School players allege referee in on-field incident used racial slurs

I hope that this asst coach is put in a position where he 1. goes to jail & 2. has a miserable life after that time. They allege that a racial slur was used, but then state that the ref needs to "pay for cheating us". So which is it - cheating them or using slurs?

So let's get it straight - the coach is named Mack Breed & the players are Victor Rojas & Mike Moreno. Short of a major apology, 1000s of hours of community service (& jail time for at least the coach) & a complete turnaround these idiots should be meant to feel like crap for a very, very long time. Scumbags.

Wow if a coach said that he needs to be in jail. and how about this from the AD. A teaching moment? Are you friggin kidding me? Is that what he would say if a bullied kid comes in and hits a kid in the head with a bat or brings a gun to School? What an asshole

Stan Laing, the Northside school district athletic director, said that he hopes the incident serves as "a teaching moment."

"We're obligated to use this as a teachable moment ... As educators, we've got to take this opportunity to teach our young people two wrongs don't make a right,'' Laing said.

If assault charges are brought, like most are calling for, that's exactly what's going to happen. Not that it will make a difference because it's obvious their intent was to hurt him. But will scouty take time off work to protest that court for their decision to look in to the details? "Fuck you judge, you piece of shit, stop looking for excuses for these guys" his picket sign will read.

Assault charges should be brought but there is no need for an "investigation" and "too see" what happened. It already is perfectly clear imo what happened and what SHOULD happen to those two idiots!

There is an investigation under way right now.

I know... I'm saying there doesn't need to be one. We clearly know what happened (for the players actions) but I guess maybe look into what the official said/did (if anything)

Yeah. Whether he did or not shouldn't affect their conviction. But if he did, the ref organization that employs him deserves to know.

I can understand why they'd want to take their time. One can't really know all the facts just from the video. And I don't mean in a "did he deserve it way". I haven't read anyone here say that he has. But the investigation, in my uneducated opinion, is probably delving into whether this was ordered from the sideline and if so, who ordered the code red? Who else knew this was going to happen?

Just because they are investigating doesn't necessarily mean they aren't sure a crime was committed. It could very well be that they want to be sure they cast that net wide enough to bring any/all of the "adults" that were responsible as well. Taking a week doesn't hurt anything, these kids aren't going anywhere.

Plus the coach. You need to confirm he said what is being alleged before following up with him legally...

very sound logic.. I in no way also thought you were saying what this kids did was correct either, so no worries there :)

lol@ thinking racism is only black & white. He supposedly called them dirty mexicans.

And I don't care what he called them, totally inappropriate response to the situation.

Ok - my bad. What I was reacting to was lots of message boards where reaction to this comment was followed up by reference to the "N" word.

Regardless of the type of slur - again - why would a ref in what would appear to be a hostile situation use any type of racial slur? Does he have a death wish? I am talking about what might happen to him after the game - not on the field. It makes no sense.

Exactly. They did something criminal and tried the "get out of jail free" card that people have been conditioned to use.

In that case he deserved what he got for being redundant

True and my ONLY point earlier was that SOMETIMES the refs can instigate the problems through their own actions. But you are correct in that there appears to be no evidence to indicate this.

Is this a racial issue? I hadn't heard the black-white angle on this.

Look, blaming the victim as opposed to totally seeing the BS that these punks did...I stand by my "interpretation" of Douche dog's fence riding BS...instigating...proof of his giving them the excuse they need and allowing for his condoning it. Like stating that the girl at the bar who was raped instigated by wearing hot clothing...aka The Accused. That's Douche dog logic there...

So I do put part of the blame on the asst coach that said that, and how the kids interpreted it...but come on you all know that isn't the first time a coach has said something like "fuck that ref, we aren't getting any calls". But I don't recall any in game raping of the refs based on what the coach said.

Some of the blame falls on him, but the majority of it falls on these pieces of shit that did committed the attack.

I agree. The kids lost their privilege to play HS football in Texas and the coach should lose his job yesterday.

coach will be fine and most likely back coaching somewhere by January

The problem is when you give a power crazed individual a position like this and have no accountability for his performance.

This should be the NFL's new slogan.

But to the point I completely agree with you. I'd like to know more about the situation before giving my full opinion on the matter. I almost posted exactly what you have here when this thread first started, but I knew I'd get the same response you got so I didn't think it was worth posting. Glad somebody said it though.
