How do you like working for University Housing?

I love my job. The administrative part can be a pain, and the fact that all the incident reports and program proposals go through me, but it's a lot easier than writing the incident reports and planning the programs. It helps that I got a really good batch of residents this year who don't cause problems and get along great with each other. It also helps that they all adore me, mostly because they've allowed me to cut them a lot of slack since they don't take advantage of it. It also helps that a bunch of them play a lot of Super Smash Bros., because I do too.

Oh, the other downside is losing two weekend nights a month due to being on duty, but that's not terrible.

I know what you mean. I worked for University Housing during my collegiate career. Overall, the pros outweighed the cons. It was a lot of fun.

Oh yeah, absolutely. I'm losing four weekend nights this month because of how the scheduling works out. We have half-staff duty one weekend because it's a high-risk weekend, so a lot of people are on weekend duty four times this month. I also have a golfer on my staff, and he's got tournaments every weekend, so he can only do one night of weekend duty, so I'm balancing it out by putting him on four times as many weekday duties as the rest of us. But despite all of that, we all really do love our jobs because it's just a ton of fun. Not to mention a free single. For me, a free suite (with my own bathroom) and a free meal plan.

Hey, WW88, as a Michigan resident, does it bother you that beer made at brewpubs or microbreweries cannot be sold on site?

I don't drink, but yeah that's pretty stupid. Also don't agree with the ban on smoking in bars and restaurants even though I don't smoke.

I don't mind smoking in bars. It's kind of an atmosphere thing. And I don't smoke. I think that having a separate section for smokers is all that needs to be done in a restaurant, and that section should just be well ventilated. When it comes down to it, though, it should be up to the business. They know their clientele. Let them conduct their business accordingly.

And the point of a brewpub is to drink the beer they make while eating the food they make. It' kind of defeats the purpose...
