Montee Ball is a good guy - and a really fine college player. It appears the line that guys who carry the ball too much in college have a limited shelf life in the Pros.

Of course we were all hoping for Monte to succeed but as we all know, great college careers don't always translate to NFL success. Here's hoping he gets a 2nd chance and proves himself with another team. Sorry Monte but it was time.

But he should be lasting more than 2 years.

I hope he latches on elsewhere.

I just can't get over when he was a no name his dad walking up to me after a Wisconsin game looking at my Broncos jacket telling me it was Montee's dream to play for his favorite team the Broncos.

I really liked all 3 of Lacy, esp Bell and then Ball too. I hope Ball can bounce back and have a long career, but I have this feeling he will bounce around a bit and not last a real long time. I think he now has the shortest amount of time on his drafted team for a Doak Walker award winner.

Check. Luke Staley didn't last but a year on the Lions PS so he doesn't win that award. :)

Montee isn't done, but I just question if he will last long in this league. I sure hope he does.

More true if the Broncos had taken a deal.

GL to Ball but knew this before Denver even drafted him. Maybe somewhere else he can get it going.

Just strikes me as sorta funny how Hillman didn't impress early and we kept him around. Ball doesn't impress early and we cut him... I know it comes down to Hillman beating out Ball this year and not enough room to keep a 4th RB who doesn't play special teams.

I think that might have something to do with Hillman's age when he entered the NFL - in contrast to Montee, who had a lot of miles on him coming out of college

.. and I am not sold on Hillman either

Montee comes across as a class individual and a nice guy - sorry to see him go, but he just didn;t seem to have it

I gotta kind of beg to differ on the Ball vs Hilman comparison. Hillman looked much better last yr and showed a big improvement running between the tackles along with his good speed ( only rb on current staff that can get outside ) and really improved from previous seasons. Ball on the other hand has not really progressed at all regardless of injury. Hillman was hurt also. Ball had his shot this time around. He was healthy and talked the talk about just give him a shot and he would win his job back. Didn't happen. I saw no inclination from Ball up to this point, that would indicate he was on his way to earning CJ's job or any other back. Sorry it didn't work out Monte but you didn't take the bull by the horns and run with it pal. IMO of course

Right- I wasn't saying Hillman didn't improve. Just seems we gave him more time for whatever reason. Could it be the age? Maybe.. .Football isn't like baseball in waiting as much with young players who may be a year or two younger then the next guy, but could be. I dont think Elway disliked Ball by any means. Hes a classy guy where as Hillman got in a smidge of trouble here.. I've always felt like Elway was very high on Hillman. Moved up for him stuck with him all along. Sometimes coaches have their pets. Not saying this is the case. I just feel like he was more patient with Ball. But in the grand scheme of things. I think it has more to do with depth this year then in past years at RB.

It is a common Bronco theme. Our early RB's haven't turned out so well, our late/undrafted guy step up. Just proves once again for those late/undrafted guys who get slept on.

I mean the undrafted Lance Ball lasted longer then the 2nd rounded Montee Ball.

And with that.

Now we have no balls!

Kind of a bummer ... His favorite player TD .. I don't get why he was having trouble with zone blocking ??????? Is that not what the Badgers do is Zone blocking ? The one year Ball had 6 yards a carry was with Gibbs here ? I am perplexed on this one ???????????

Good luck to a classy young man hope he goes to the Cowboys and does well .

We've never had any luck with the Bell's and Ball's at RB whether that be Tatum, Mike, Lance, or Monte so we should just give up completely on players with those names. Just like unless you get Rob stay far away from anyone else named Gronkowski.
