More reasonable than shooting 55% from the field. 37% is what you would have to shoot from 3 to beat a team shooting 55% from the field from 2.

The #1 team in fg% last year was at 47%. Of course that percentage is brought down be 3 point attempts... and there are a lot of complex factors like shot selection, defense, etc.

The overall point that 3 point shots are becoming more and more mathematically valuable as guys get better at shooting - I stand by.

There's always that old saying that goes "You live by the 3, you die by the 3". This is the first time that a pure 3-pt. shooting team won the title in quite some time. This could be an anomally or this could be the new trend. Yes, the NBA is starting to go to space and pace system. But, simply comparing percentages without in the way done in this post doesn't tell the whole story and is very short-sighted.

I agree completely.

You hear a lot of complaints about how the mid-range game is gone from the NBA. There's actually a very good reason for that. Dunks and layups are the most valuable shots. Next are 3 pointers. Mid range jumpers are the worst. There are some players who make a very high percentage of the open mid jumpers that they get... but for most NBA players its not a great shot. Not until the shot clock is waning and the defense has denied better attempts.

I think the Warriors are somewhat mischaracterized. They were very good at getting inside looks. Yes, they took a lot of 3's and made a lot of 3's... but they good looks because they had a good offense that could get inside points as well.

If a team is just going to sit back and jack 3's... that's easy to defend. But if you move the ball and make your opponent chose between giving up inside points or giving up good looks at 3's.... you are going to do well. THAT is the near future of the NBA offense, IMO.... though its much easier said than actually done... and I'm sure the defense will evolve along with it and come up with good ways to counter.

I wont take anything away from the Warriors. They earned it without excuses.
But, they essentially had a magical run without any injuries.

I am not ready to annoit a new era because a jumpshooting team finally won something.
GSW might not have been the #1 seed yet alone champions without a year of insane bad luck everywhere else.
Injuries really benefited Golden State.

Off the top of my head of guys who missed significant regular/and or playoff games to injury Parker, Leonard, Splitter, Lebron, Love, Kyrie, Rose, Blake, Howard, Durant, Westbrook, Aldridge, Matthews, Bosh.....
Those are some big names (not even mentioning valuable roleplayers) giving us a ton more as well.
2014-15 was the season of the injury.

It is not Golden State's problem. They took advantage of it rather than wasting it.
But, it was the case.

You can apply that to pretty much every champion in every year. Most all champions got there because they stayed healthy and if you dig into the details, you're bound to find some would be contender that they avoided because they came down with an injury. Just getting there is really a huge part of the accomplishment

I was not bashing Golden State's accomplishments.

I was merely suggesting that GS winning was not some permanent shift towards a grand new style of championship hoops.

Except every team since 2010 (including your Spurs) molded its offense off space, just like the Warriors. The change is already here.

Exactly.

I mean isn't staying healthy so you have the best shot to win part of the goal? It's crazy how they did exactly what every contender strives to do yet a lot of people want to place an asterisk next to their win.

And somehow even with all those stupid hashtags when they won't win the title again you would say their season was not a failure

For the record... that hashtag was wiggy's not LeBron's

I was fooled also but i saw when LeBron posted it on ig so i knew it wasn't him. If you did not see the post it is very easy to think it was LeBron who posted it as wiggy did a poor job of separating his hashtags from lebrons post

I wonder about this part of that post. Lebron can't get back on the floor with them. Is he injured? Or assuming that Love and Kyrie will be?
