Here's what you're not grasping.
If we don't sign Wade, we replace him with nothing or next to nothing because we are still capped out.
It cost Arison some tax money. As a fan, who cares?

So, are our chances better to succeed with or without Wade this year?
The answer is with, so it was a no brainer.
Yes as a fan its not a big deal. Im just shocked because Pat us usually a business man. He doesn't get sentimental on contracts.

He wasn't going to leave. If u offered 16 mill again he would of stayed. He loves south beach and Miami. Only way he was leaving was if u offered under 12 mill. No team would of offered anything close to that and he knew that. Im just saying 20 mill is a lot and it some what screwed u from adding any players this year. Can miami live with this contract yes but its an unusually move from Pat. Not like him.

We still wouldn't have had 4M to give another player...WHY is this so hard?
Wade gave Arison 5M by opting out a year ago.
Players don't often do that.

They are even now.
Nobody owes anyone, anything.

As I expected, the Lakers did little to change their status with Aldridge with just Mitch and B. Scott in the room. I stated that should have not bothered with the second meeting with Aldridge. They may have contributed to their own embarrassment again.

The Lakers need to rebuild a lot of things and they should start with this young group of talented players they already have and just let this FA period go this year. They'll be a place for the Lakers in subsequent years' FA periods but we are just not that far enough along to be perceived as a place to go. Just let it go.

The problem the Lakers have right now is that from a basketball perspective, it's all "if this guy works out like we think he wili", "if this guy continues to develop", "if we can get this guy." That's not what a 30 year old veteran wants to hear, but for now, it's all the Lakers have.

They had to try and get him because a guy like that potentially accelerates the re-build. They are still on the right path, they just don't get to speed it up this year. If they end up not getting anyone of note, they'll fill the roster with some more 1 year deals and go after someone next year when the cap goes up and Kobe is off the books.

And you think it's good business moving forward for the Heat to get into a hissy fit fight with a franchise player over a 1 time 4M payment after that player gave them 5M a year ago?

The Lakers are going to suck for a long time. Kupchak said they don't have time to build through the draft. Well, I guess they don't have time to be good either. You got to have a good young team to attract veteran star players. The lakers just want to add star players. That doesn't work. Just ask the Knicks. Take the time to rebuild properly because Kobe and shaq and Pau Gasol type players just arent going to keep falling right into your lap. Especially when the team sucks.

:L You really need to just stop. Lebron has never had to recruit players to play for a team that he wasn't going to be playing on. You have no idea how he'd be recruiting them as a GM. People thought it would be easy for MJ. That players would want to play for him just because he's MJ. Hasn't quite worked out that way.

Yes, he has, especially veteran guys. It would take time but he could be a coach or a GM. He just has the "it" factor. Good at persuading---he would do just fine.

I'm pretty intrigued by the 7'3'' guy the Hawks just signed. Walter Tavares is his name.

Dallas is looking pretty good. Getting Matthews and DJ. Pretty good replacements for Ellis and Chandler, if Matthews can stay healthy, if he cant they really have no players that can create offense like Ellis did.

Good thing they traded away Spencer Hawes.

I hated that trade, not because Stephenson is a headcase, but because they added Hawes in the package.

And now it really comes back to haunt them.

Doc the GM!

What players has he recruited to play with him that resulted in "winning"? Antoine Jamison, Mo Williams, and Delonte West in Cleveland the first time? How about Shaq? The only time he's won was when he was the recruited & not the recruitor.

Too funny.
I'm thrilled with the Heat moves.
Obviously you can't replace James, but obviously he isn't getting any younger.
I saw his best here already.

Maybe Ohioans feel the urgency for an all nothing with him right now (as they should), but the Heat will always be fine.
