It will be Oz that guides Broncos to that goal and not Peyton. I think it's inevitable that Manning will struggle somewhat but because of a good run game and D, Denver will be above .500 after 5 gms and Kubes will insert Brock and he will end up leading Denver to the promised land. I just don't think Manning will be able to run this system effectively enough for starters and more than likely his body won't hold up for very long either. There is just to much work in this system at the Qb level for a 39 yr old guy. I know it's a stretch for OZ to pull it off but I think it's even more of a stretch to think Manning can sustain a competitive and healthy season as well. Just my thoughts.

I think Manning will be just fine. If anyone can adjust to a new scheme it's him. The durability is perhaps a concern if you read deeply into the second half of last season. I think that was an injury that can happen to anyone, and Manning sea to have healed. I think the team is going to gut out some wins early but be fine down the stretch.

Out of curiosity, what makes you think Oz will come in and in his first appreciable amount of playing time will lead the team on a SB run?

Something like that would be unprecedented

It actually isn't completely unprecedented. Terry Bradshaw started the season in 1974 on the bench and came in week 7 to then lead the Steelers to the Super Bowl win. Roger Staubach backed up Craig Morton for the Cowboys in 1971 after coming in week 4. Jim Plunkett in 1980 did it for the Raiders when he came in week 6 of the season. Jeff Hostetler did it for the Giants in 1990 when Phil Simms broke his foot. Trent Dilfer in 2000 did not start as the starter for the season but came in week 9 for the Ravens in 2000. And finally Tom Brady in 2001 after Bledsoe went down in week 2 of the 2001 season. So not completely unheard of but definitely not the best situation if your back up is coming in.

Now as for the OP Randymon always enjoy your out of the box thinking but at this point Manning still has to be our best shot of winning the Super Bowl. If he isn't then we just made a $15 million mistake in my opinion as they should have just cut him and brought in more talent to surround Osweiler with. I honestly do think early in the off season the FO was ready to move on but then getting a look at Peyton and how he had healed up and looked in March when he did his physical I think secured that they were in the best hands still with Manning at the helm. From what I understand this off season has been the best that Manning has looked. I do think that Manning won't be able to do every part of Kubiak's system but you also have to remember that Manning allows Kubiak to do things he has never done before as well. Kubiak hasn't had a QB like Manning ever. He has had a HOF QB before but Elway and Manning are two very different styles of QB's.

At this point really if the Broncos stand a chance at winning the Super Bowl I don't think it is going to come down to who is playing QB for us. I think it does come down to our defense. The star power on this defense for the Broncos is probably the best we have ever had in my opinion. Now it is just a matter of can the coaches maximize that talent? Last year I thought Del Rio did one of the worst coaching jobs of any coach. He got very very lazy and just stopped scheming and decided he could just win on talent alone. Talent can only get you so far is what we learned last year. We need this group to play with some major fire and take every time an offense scores personally. Last year the group just seemed to be fine with just doing enough to win games. They let off the gas pedal way too often and honestly again I blame coaching as they just didn't coach that instinct needed to be that top defense.

Can you imagine the trolling if this happened?
What if Oz did take the Broncos to the SB but lost?
I don't see pulling Manning unless he goes off the cliff.
It would make sense to get him in games with a comfortable lead.....

I honestly wouldn't even mind the idea of having Osweiler start a couple of games this year to help save Manning for the playoffs. Back in the days of Elway he missed 4 games during one of our Super Bowl runs and thankfully we had a quality back up that went 4-0 in those games but it also meant that Elway then was 100% come playoff time. I would rather be 10-6 say come playoff time and maybe the 3 seed with Manning 100% than 12-4 and the 1 seed but Manning 70%. Playoffs are where you need your top players at their best not regular season. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this did happen as Kubiak was the OC for Elway during the Super Bowl years and knows what it means to have your top QB in top shape for the playoffs.

Hey guys. I actually replied to IKF then started BQ and later saw my post never made it then it was late. The only reason I think this could happen is I think now more than ever ( with Oz contract expire) that Elway and Kubes really need to see if Oz is going to be the guy or not. I think even if Denver wins early but Manning struggles, they will be more inclined to insert Oz ( providing he has looked good in pre-season,etc) and I also don`t think Manning, durability wise will hold up for very long. It not the new system I`am worried about with Manning or him being able to run it, it`s just going to be hard for him ( another yr older) to be able to sustain his body and perform at a high level. I just don`t think Elway and Kubes will be as hesitant to make a change as they have been in past with Manning this yr and more times than not, when you do, you have to commit. Also I concur and mentioned, along with Cd, that no Championship comes to Denver no matter who`s at Qb unless Broncos have above avg run attack and a very, very good, consistant and aggressive D this yr. If Manning pulls it off, imo, it would be one of the greatest accomplishments ever by a qb in NFL history no doubt. That my friends is a pretty big IF heading into 2015 season.

....the only way Peyton has a "shot" is = if BRADY misses 4-games,......plus, ......you still have to conquer Luck too,.....*just saying*.

Last I saw, the Vegas odds of Denver winning the SB are 12/1. Pretty sure that those odds are based on Manning, not Oz, playing QB. My guess is that if it is possible to bet on Oz leading the Broncos to a title, a bettor should get somewhere around 120/1 odds! Not to say it's impossible, but in my opinion, Manning, not Oz, clearly gives us our best shot.

The colts do not scare me as much as they seem to scare others. They did little to improve weak spots in their game but improved on strengths. To me, they are doing the same thing they did with Manning. Go all in on the passing game and don't worry about run, defense, o-line, etc.

In before Pats fans come in and express extreme insecurity about this possibility.

Edit: Whoops, too late. :L

Adding Gore to that team is going to help that offense in a big way. Not giving that addition its due credit IMO. He still has a lot left in the tank and along with a big chip on his shoulder to prove it. Other than that.....they sure made Denver look bad with that terrible O-line and crappy D last yr:)

Well,I have to admit it is a stretch. Kind of like thinking Cutler will not be Cutler this yr and guide da Bears to the promised land. My OP should have read.. If Denver and Manning get a ring this yr, OZ will have to be the guy that eventually delivers because I just don't think Manning will hold up for whole season. So, if in a, It's OZ or bust.

Well the good thing so far is the Broncos do seem focused on Osweiler getting his chance to be the future of the team. They didn't pick anybody up in FA and waited until the 7th round to draft anybody so to me that should be a huge confidence boost for Osweiler moving forward. So the fact that a HOF QB in Elway and one of the best OC's in the business in Kubiak believe in this kid makes me think he could come in this season and win some games for us if we needed. I'm still of the mindset though if we are to win a Championship Manning has to be the guy to do it. That is just asking too much of Osweiler to be able to do something so big as that. I think it could still happen as long as our defense is as good as we all hope and that Kubiak and the staff can get our OL to be even average this season.

Voice of reason. I'm tired of hearing about the Colts being SB favorites - even with no improvement.
