Gotta say.....Corporan made a couple of catches in the 9th I'm not at all sure Chirinos would have done same.

After 6 weeks I honestly don't understand why Corpy isn't the starting catcher.

This team won't keep winning if they don't get back to what they were doing a few days ago.

Me neither. But hey, the season is indeed still young, even if it's already gotten old to some of us.

I don't have an enormous problem with BaNister sticking with Robinson for a while yet.

But I do agree with ya, Corp has done the better of the two.

Had to go play cards with my son and wife for the end of this one, Feliz throwing pitches all over the lot was too hard to watch

Was getting ready to crank up the pressure on Mr Darryl to continue with his winning ways myself.

Good call Mr DT.

I would think you were nuts if you had told me that last year. Who would have guessed?

My post from a few minutes ago.

In fairness, Feliz made some really nice pitches. But oh my goodness was he wild and unpredictably so, as to what zone/where he was going to be wild too.

I think Thomas Magnum has a few he could part with. At a reasonable investment of course......:pound:

Couldn't help but notice some of the posts about this. In all my time playing baseball our coaches would always harp that a walk is as good as a hit. In other words don't get yourself out on bad pitches just because you want to get a hit. If you get on base we get to live for another at bat. Now this is not directed just at you bennie because there were a couple posts about this but who cares what the fans want to see or anything else for that matter. You cannot score if you are not getting guys on base. And how many of us have been irritated beyond belief to see a guy strikeout or weakly hit the ball for an out because he swung at a bad pitch. Plus you increase the pitch count of someone you may want to get out of the game. Anything else is just not smart baseball.
Yeah, I don't want guys swinging at bad pitches. Unless of course it is a Pudge or someone like that who can hit bad pitches. On the other hand I am just as irritated as you are in the cases you mentioned when I see a guy take a strike just for the sake of getting the pitch count up or something similar only to have him fall into a hole in the count and never see that good of a pitch again. You may risk getting out when you swing, but you also give yourself a chance to not only hit a single, but get an extra base hit. You risk getting out by taking pitches as well.

I think the whole idea of increasing the pitch count to get a guy out of the game is taken too far a lot of times and sometimes it becomes an instance of the tail wagging the dog. If you get enough hits off of the pitcher you can knock him out of the game no matter how many pitches he has thrown. Unless it is a Randy Johnson or Roger Clemens in their prime then I am not too concerned with making the whole priority be to get the starting pitcher out of the game.

I understand that this flies in the face of the trend of some of the current hitting philosophies, but I think that a walk is definitely not anywhere near as good as a base hit in a lot of circumstances. I don't like taking pitches to be the focus of an at bat unless the hitter is really struggling to make contact or if the pitcher is a certain HOFer.
