Washington Redskins smart to not re-sign free-agent OLB Brian Orakpo - Washington Redskins Blog - ESPN

It looks like our ball coach was sharing some 420 time with Randy Gregory. How anyone could 'feel good' at any spot other than LT is beyond me.
You mean an edge rusher not LT right?

I'm actually good with trusting SM at whatever he chooses to do at 5, whether that be a trade back, OL, WR, OLB or MM if he's deemed the right pick there.

Too many holes on the team for me to feel any differently at this point. This team is not going to be fixed in one year.

Honestly can't imagine SM NOT addressing the OLine with additional talent from the draft myself. The question is more one of which round imo.

Very true. Ideally, I'd like to trade back, say, with Cleveland for their two firsts. In a shout out to Shark, I'd love to see us draft Brandon Scherff and Andrus Peat with both those of picks.

That would be sweet, but I find it hard to think even one of those two will make it past NY, STL, and Minn.

So if we some how made the trade with the Browns, Im thinking we are looking at getting guys like Clemmings, Collins or Flowers. And I wil lstate, I expect all three to be decent to good o-lineman. BUt I think Scherff will be the class of the o-lineman, and Peat will likely be the #2 in there.

One can hope, cant' they? The more I hear about Scherff, the more I keep hearing he can't play tackle. But, I'll say that those comments are made in the context of playing left tackle, not right tackle. Still, a tackle that's slow and has pass-pro issues can be a liability a la Polumbus. But if he landed with us, Callahan might be able to coach him up to be a good enough tackle. And whatever the case may be, he'd be a huge improvement over Polumbus.

And I look at it like this.. from everything i hear the worst case is we have a STELLAR OG for the next 5-10 years. Something we havent had since Tre Johnson. To me its worth the fifth pick if the best we get is a 5-10 year starter at a position we have been horrible at for the last 8-12 years. Every year there are 5-10 guys projected as Dominant pass rushers. I would easily pass on the next Arrington or Orakpo for another Tre or Jacoby and smile all the way.

I like a lot too Scherff, at the right spot in the draft. And I agree he won't get past the teams Shark mentioned, certainly won't make it all the way to the Browns's first pick. But sorry, the names Scherff and Joe Jacoby do not belong in the same sentence.

how can 5 not be the right spot if the giants take him at 9 ? i am sorry but he is a top 10 player in this draft based on ratings so if he is there , and he addresses a need you have to look at him strongly

I think alot of people are dead set on the idea that you dont take any O-lineman other than a LT in the top five, and surely not an OG. I think thats the real hangup at taking Scherff. I think the other hangup is people think a top five player should be one with the ability to "Take over a game". Read that as a Skill position on offense, or a high light magnet on defense. Remeber that the best OG's in the game you rarely hear about until pro bowl voting starts.

tell me whats wrong with an o/line that has williams scherf stiger long and donavan smith ? is anyone going to tell me that isnt an improvement ? heck you can plug in gann , tomlinson or the kid from FSU fleming in place of long and that is a formidable young o/line

Love to see Tomlinson here. But what none of us know is what the current assessment is on Spencer Long. Maybe he is the answer and he can play RG. Even if he is, I unfortunately don't like our other guard, Lauvao. Good job there, Jay. Like I've said umpteen times, we should trade down. If we don't trade down too far, Scherff may be there. If not, I'm good with taking Tomlinson later on and then a tackle with our new pick.

Has anyone ever called you a hater, Shark? :)

Multiple times actually. Strangely enough Skinsdad has even thrown it out back in the old Jason Campbell really dark years.
