Salty was right though. If this does not work it could set the 49ers back 5 years.

It looks like all the info is in now. Jed and Trent think they knew more than Harbaugh and booted his ass so they can rule with a iron fist. This is so fucked. Who in the hell is our coaching staff now. Lets fire the guy who has won 70% of his games. This is fucked.

There is only one thing worse that can happen. If Harbaugh comes back to the NFL in a couple of years to coach the Rams and dominates the division for 10 years. Wow.....oh no that could happen.

Apparently, the Bears and Raiders were interested in Geep as OC but Niners blocked it.

We blocked it obviously before Gase went there... and Gase wouldn't have gone there if Geep did... so did we just shoot ourselves in the foot? Or was it just so obvious that Gase wasn't coming here or Geep wasn't going to be hired there? I assume yes to the latter, but that's just pessimism speaking.

LOL, Salty has great entertainment value. He is like the energizer bunny when he goes on one of his rants. So much so, that Tom and Ray find great amusement in him. He is the kind of guy that needs to find something to rant on and would have nothing to say otherwise

Not the splashiest of hires and obviously not their first choice. But lets give him a chance and see what comes of it and what moves follow the rest of the offseason.

Harbaugh didn't dominate here for 10 years, so what makes you think he is going to dominate for 10 years anywhere else. I am opposed to the coaching hires and the direction of the team and would have liked to see Harbaugh stay. That being said, Harbaugh is an offensive coach and the offense underperformed this year.

I'm going based off of them, giving them the benefit of the doubt. THEY wanted Gase, so it matters not whether I think Chryst will be any good (loved the Vernon Post and QB sweep), my question was did they cost us Gase by blocking Geep? I'm basing this on the post above that said we could block and did so.

Fair enough. From reading about Geep, he has a similad demeanor as Harbaugh and in fact, both our coordinators were brought to Niners by Harbaugh. Interesting.

We'll see. Maybe Chryst sees something in Kaep that Roman didn't. I'm hopeful that he'll make clock management a priority. Gotta be optimistic.

Niners will probably say that Geep was their man all along. I'll wait and see what happens this upcoming season. But it's disconcerting that several coaches have elected to stay at their current positions.

Pozz said:
Diverse, smart coach from a teaching aspect as he's worked with every position on offense and has play-calling experience. Comes from a coaching family and has a similar demeanor to Jim Harbaugh.

He started out as a QB in college but was moved to defense because they needed numbers and eventually became a starting LB at Princeton.

He's a West Coast guy and has studied Bill Walsh offenses extensively and was among the many 49ers coaches who had copies of Walsh's practice videos made up so they could pick up on whatever they could when they came on board.

He's had success working with tight ends specifically. Before Greg Olsen got to Carolina, he was able to collectively turn Jeff King, Gary Barnidge, and Dante Rosario into their most potent TE group in team history (60 plus receptions for around 800 yards of offense collectively). He also helped turn Gary Barnidge into one of the better blocking TEs in the NFL.

Note: That offense also had Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad on board, as well as DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, who both ran for 1,100+ yards each (first time in NFL history a RB tandem did that). Geep was the TEs coach but I wanted to point out who else was there on offense.

He's also been a part of staffs with successful ground games. He's been on a staff ranked in top 10 rushing yards roughly 10 times in his career. I'd have to double check that figure but I believe it's 10. He's also been a part of staffs that have been in the top 3 in passing 3 times.

He was Jake Plummer's QB coach and contributed to helping him be known as a horrible decision maker to something slightly better than that.

In terms of style I'd begin to wonder if he'll run the offense with a faster paced tempo as he has a history of working with faster paced offenses. Most notably he worked with Jim Harbaugh as his coach in San Diego running a no huddle.

He also worked with Marc Trestman for one season and talked about how they "see the game the same way." They both like QBs who can move.

I'll come back to this later as I've got to get going.

From Pozz.
