Three games on the slate this week.
1/25: VT vs #2 UVA, 1:00pmEST (check local TV listings)
1/27: VT vs Pitt, 7:00pmEST (ESPNU)
1/31: VT @ Wake Forest, 2:00pmEST (check local TV listings)
The good news? The murderer's row of the schedule comes to a close this Sunday. The bad news? It's against our toughest team yet which also happens to be our rival AND our best player is out. Justin Bibbs is still out with lingering concussion issues and might also miss the Pitt game. Even with him on the roster, we likely had a 1% shot at beating UVA. Without him, its whatever is closest to zero. In case you haven't been paying attention, LOLUVA isn't so LOL at basketball. Bennett's boys are absolutely nasty on defense making it so opponents cannot score the ball. Literally, they can't score. They've held 3 opponents this year under 30 points FOR THE GAME, including games that including single digit halves. To make it worse for us, they have size basically everywhere from the post to lanky athletic wings, which is the opposite of our team. This game could get brutally ugly. It will be a miracle to break 30, especially without Bibbs. And if some how we win, prepare for the Apocalypse.
The other two games provide chances for a brighter outlook. Pitt has a solid record, but I haven't been all that impressed with them thus far. I think its possible we can pull the upset if we play our A game with Bibbs healthy. Wake is 9-11 and would seem like a good chance for a win as well. But really, neither will be a chance at a win unless Bibbs is back.
