Just adding a few guys in key areas through free agency and the draft could really change this team around we already have building blocks in areas of importance now we gotta just fill in the rest of the problem areas

Country, that's the argument that I make last off season. I was wrong. We are more than a few guys away, we are at least 50% roster turnover just to become competitive. The real problem we have is that we have way too may aging vets that are always injured and/or underperform and they take up a huge chunk of our cap space. Consequently, we have to skimp of the young depth behind them. These are the guys that play on special teams, develop for a couple of years, and then step into starting roles in their 3rd year. We rarely produce those types of players.

Hopefully McLoughan will change all that as his philosophy is much more draft centric. But it is going to take 3-5 years for this philosophy to have an impact on the starting roster.

Sure if the few guys we bring in are Aaron Rodgers, 3 stud OL, 2 safeties, 3 DL, a blocking TE and 5 special teams aces then we're right there baby.

A lot of that depends on how a handful of the young guys work out over the next couple years, particularly on the OL, DL and at QB. If we can get some production out of Hall and better play from Amerson, draft a starting S and pick up another in FA... The secondary all of the sudden looks a lot better. The guys we have on DL and OL need to stay healthy and play better, across the board replacements on both lines is probably not realistic in one year.

A good free safety and an improved pass rush, hopefully with the #5 pick, will do wonders for that secondary.

you and snyder have the same vision . we arent ' a few guys away " . we have finished last 6 of 7 years and that means we dont have the talent we need

this will take 3-5 years so get that into your mind and dont be fooled by fools gold either

Not sure if it will take that long but it could. However - the main thing is this team needs to change its philosophy & simply try to get a little better ever year & be realistic about the talent & needs of the team at any time. That should allow them to eventually be like organizations such as NE, Seattle, GB, etc who are competitive every season.

The main steps involve valuing the draft, the FO, coaching, etc. Thus far this offseason - especially in comparison to the last 10 years or so - they appear to be making the right moves in this area. Especially with the new GM I would expect that they won't counter all this with some subsequent bad moves - time will tell. Again - one of the keys is patience on the part of the fans as well as the organization. It is fine to expect improvement but not the pt where anywhere expects a deep playoff run next season & subsequently bitches if it doesn't happen. Get real.
