Peyton Manning needs to take a pay cut and it should be voluntary on his part. Of course I will not be expecting that at all. Brady, BTW just took another pay cut (or at least deferred payment) that has freed up money. He has done that before, and I do not know if Manning ever considered doing that. If the Broncos are going to be hiring a new coach, then they need to be thinking about a coach that is best suited to be forming an offense around Osweiler. Personally, I do not think Osweiler is the future, but you never know.

IMO, the best offense to run with Osweiler is similar to what was here under Shanahan. A stretch running game, which is entirely dependent on a QB that can run BOOTLEG play action. Osweiler is nimble enough in his feet where he can run that. He has a strong enough arm where he can stretch the field vertical. Now, how accurate is he, and how good of a decision maker is he? I do not know, but I have not seen anything that leads me to believe he will be dynamic with those two aspects.

BOTTOM LINE:

Peyton Manning is and has always been pretty much a one dimensional QB. Being the best "PASSER" does not always mean the same thing as BEST QUARTERBACK. There are other things that QBs need to do in order to get championships.

How sickening did it make you when Manning had to just scramble for 5 yards to pick up a crucial 3rd down. There was not a defender within 20 yards of him, and he chose to throw some low percentage pass to the sideline to Sanders who would have needed to make a circus catch?

The coach they hire will be needing to formulate a team without Manning. I do not think Gase is the answer.

Just have to say that Brady did not take a pay cut with his recent restructure. He actually got a 1 million dollar raise for each of the next three seasons and his cap hit will go up by the same amount. What the new contract did accomplish was save the patriots from having to put all of his guaranteed money for the next 3 years ($24mil) into the NFL's escrow account allowing to them to have an improved cash flow.

They could always make him Offensive Co-ordinator as well as a QB, so they can then justify paying him more than one person lol.

Whatever you call it. Deferred payment etc. I figured it probably did not mean Brady "lost money" but I do know that whatever he did, freed up money.

For some reason and I do find it telling, this action has never occurred to forehead (Manning.) Which is why I roll my eyes and snicker whenever one of these outrageously highly paid athletes claim they are ALL about WINNING.

Well, if that is the case, then prove it. What is someone like Manning worth? 100 million? 200 million? I do not think he is going to be homeless any time soon. So, if he freed up ALL of his money, they could probably sign 5 pro bowlers.

Broncos are not hurting for cap room and if Manning is not on the roster in March that is additional 16 million free. This is not a burn it all down and start over. We will have normal turnover, THAT EVERY TEAM HAS. We will have new additions, THAT EVERY TEAM HAS. Some players are going to want to leave because of the connections with the coaching staff but that will likely be few.

We will still have talent on this team. We won't be in a purge state that many believe.

I will not guarantee a AFC West title next year but it is safe to assume the broncos are not going to revert to some 4-12 garbage team.

I also read that the new contract structure makes it easier for Brady to be cut, should the need arise w/out the dead money hit that the replaced contract would have generated.

Jeff Saturday was saying today that he thinks Manning might be back next season because the offense and verbiage is still going to be relatively similar no matter who the coach is.

That, would be outstanding imo. With CJ Anderson and the stretch run, that would be great IMO. I think Osweiler would be better served.

The key will be the DC that would be hired.

I am really really hoping for someone that is a 3-4 coordinator. I personally think this front 7 is better suited to that defense. Especially Von Miller.

If they keep potroast, that is one ideal NT that would be needed for that defense.
