We haven't had a lot of positive things to discuss this season, but I would like to look at the upcoming changes in a positive light. Hopefully you guys are with me. So...

What do you think will happen this offseason? Will Cutler stay? What coaches will get axed? Will Emery stay?

I know we discussed these topics but I'm just curious what you guys think will happen.

Bring in a coach that will build the offense around Matt Forte instead of Cutler.

Per Zach Zaidman- In the Locker room.
"I love the guy," said Bushrod of Cutler. "I want to see him continue to be here and I want to see him continue to get better."

But, yeah, you saw what you wanted to see. Idiot.

I think that if Emery gets a chance to right the ship, he could get himself a couple of years’ worth of job security by bringing in a new coach; if he keeps Trestman and Trestman can’t do any better than he already has, I can’t see how that wouldn’t cost them both their jobs at the end of next season.

As far as the coaches are concerned, I hope Mel Tucker has a really good Plan B that he can fall back on… the stink of the so-called “defense" he put on the field this season won’t wash off easily.

What I think will happen: (not necessarily what I want to happen- but I could handle this)
Emery will be retained- Maybe with less control. (focus on drafting and FA- NOT coaches)
Ted Philips will be moved to Business side and taken out of football operations.
George McCaskey will take over football stuff and have a part time consultant- don't know who? Holmgren was mentioned, but that hasn't gained traction of late.

They will hire a proven head coach with 2 SB wins in Mike Shanahan- He will get control of hiring his staff. Of the names with head coaching experience he's at the top of the list. He's from Chicago. Has a connection to both Jay and Marshall.

Cutler Stays based on his contract and no other QB's worth it out there- will not be considered "franchise" QB anymore.

I'm hopeful that whoever they hire, it's because he's the best fit for the job- NOT because he was the cheapest, the last one left, the "quarterback whisperer", does well in his mock press conference, or because he can "fix" Cutler. Simply because he's a good overall HEAD coach. No more focus on Offense or Defense. We've seen that Lovie was D= fail, Tresty was O= fail

Also that they let him coach the team- NO more of this: We'll give you the job IF:
You accept Mel Tucker or whoever as your DC
You run the former coaches Defense, or Offense (Tice when Martz left)
You work with Jay Cutler...(should be given the choice- Not an ultimatum)

Start by replacing Trestman with Todd Bowles. Allow him to put together a staff (looking at you Emery). I am on the fence with Emery, but I don't realistically think he'll be let go. So give him control of the roster, but keep his grimy hands off the coaching staff once Bowles is hired.

Hey it's not all negative. A bunch of rookies got experience playing defense. Two years from now, when the defense is playing better, you will be able to point to this year. Assuming of course we draft well and the defense plays well.

Plus, we got the number seven pick. We can get someone awesome at an elite position. Years from now, and over time, you may see this as a huge silver lining.

Assuming of course we pick him.

I think Cutler and Emery stay and a new HC is brought in with a new staff. What that looks like I can't say because I have no faith in the organization doing it the right way. I'd like it to be where the coach gets to choose his staff, etc. but we haven't followed that model in the past.

Here's the full quote, even better:
While Cutler’s public persona has engendered criticism and commentary, his stock with teammates, the only measure of real consequence, remained high.
“His attitude during this whole thing has been great,” tackle Jermon Bushrod said. “I love the guy on the field, but I love him even more off the field He's a good guy, and he catches the brunt of a lot of criticism and it's not right.
“As his O-line, I want to see him continue to be here. I want to see him continue to get better.”

the same things were said about Tebow.

Now, of course they aren't the same, but the public statements of his teammates don't really overshadow his actual performance. His performance is the only measure of real consequence.

Emory will stay with about half the power he had. The coaching staff is 100% gone. Cutler will be shopped, but only a small chance well work out a way to get rid of him. Also I think we find a way to remove Allen from our pay roll.

Dont you know the way players show them selves without a mic in their face speak volumes over when they have that mic in their faces?

Bushrod can also be let go, what do you think, he will get plenty of chances to play anywhere after he throws the franchise QB under the bus? At least I admit to being an idiot, you are clearly slow.

Well, so much for that… NFL.com is reporting that Emery has been canned. They are guessing that Cutler’s contract was the primary reason behind the move (passing over Bruce Arians in favor of Marc Trestman was also mentioned).

Blah, blah, blah... I believe the words that came out of the guys mouth. He didn't have to say anything... Could have just said- "we'll see what happens" when asked about Cutlers future. Instead he talks about "love" and how he's a great guy off the field.
Your bias doesn't allow you to see that side. You have bought into the narrative that Trestman WANTED you to. Hook, line and sinker. A giant meatball on the line!! Look it's Jay's fault! It's not the shitty play calls, the bubble screens or Defense, or locker room dysfunction, or stupid ass "tool box of concepts".
You have taken the easy way out: Just blame Jay. I can't stand that. You have some others who

***Jay Cutler is NOT a FRANCHISE QB anymore*** I'm saying that, I get that, but he's NOT the reason Trestman or Emery were fired- NOT the reason that Lovie Smith was fired and ABSOLUTELY NOT the reason McDaniels was fired in Denver (he never even played for McD!!) Jay's not been good enough... But he's better then all the QB's out there now. I'll move on when there is something else better.

Do you want any of the OC's that have been here before back?
If you think it's all Cuter's fault then you would have to believe that those coaches were good... Want Turner, Martz, Tice, Kromer? Grrrr. I hate meatballs.

You are the one that reads cutler hate into ever post, so I cannot help that. You are the one that cannot see what is right in front of you. Some of us have that gift, others just dont want to take their blinders off.

I like ya man. But can you please take this as an opportunity to realize how you sometimes twist things to suit your arguments, and outright make shit up sometimes?

Jerome Bushrod has passionately defended Jay Cutler in the media all week long.

I mean, come on man.

Well, whether Cutler was "the reason" is clearly a matter of opinion. In a way either of these could have been considered Cutler's "fault", but assigning blame is a somewhat subjective matter in those cases. It is certainly not as cut and dry as you are trying to put it.

There's no question that McDaniels' team suffered greatly when Cutler forced his way out of Denver, particularly on offense. And Cutler did that because of a personal problem with McDaniels - this isn't a matter of debate, it's fairly well known. Whether all of the offensive malaise Denver suffered those two years while they retooled is Cutler's "fault" is of course debatable, but at the minimum it was a factor.

Lovie Smith...again, it's tricky. Lovie is gone almost purely because of the failure to execute offense under his tenure. Assigning blame there between Cutler and his coordinators and Angelo (who, let's not forget, was responsible for the abysmal offensive drafts) is not easy. If I were trying to do it, I would say something more like "he was only part of the reasons Smith was fired" rather than "NOT the reason."

Trestman...well, here again, I don't know. Was this team's offensive problem Trestman or Cutler's fault? I don't really know....I definitely blame both. Trestman clearly went away from the run at mysterious times in games (see for example Green Bay game 1), and too frequently did not seem to have game planned to an opponent's specific weakness (e.g. the Carolina D line's right, Green Bay's middle, the small New England safeties, etc). That being said, Trestman's schemes usually generated open receivers that Cutler frequently did not throw to. We still don't know who did what on run audibles, but that's probably at least partly on Cutler. And the O line had terrible problems properly calling correct blocking on passing plays...this was a major problem. That's definitely partly on Garza (why the fuck did we resign him again?) but also partly Cutler's responsibility....in-game at-snap calls really aren't Trestman's job.

So I don't know Joey...you can try to wash Cutler's hands in those three firings, but I don't really buy that. Now, no way he was the sole reason for any of them, but it's hard to not notice what role he did play.

These kinds of things can be overlooked with some playoff success, but there isn't any to do that with.
