WOW! Just WOW! Never thought I'd ever see a Divsion Leader with a 2 game BELOW 500 record!

"The Saints (6-8) moved into first place ahead of Carolina (5-8-1) and Atlanta (5-9) after losing four of their previous five games. They also rebounded from a 41-10 loss to the Panthers."

I really don't get how the Saints division is so terrible this year. Has this happened before?

NFC North was pretty bad last year. But 8-8 won the division.

Yes several times. Did you start watching football this year? The AFC west had 2 division winners with just 8 wins, nfc west had a 7 win team win the division, & the nfc north had some 8 win team win the division....all in the last 10 yrs

Yes, 8 wins.... Not 6... I do follow the NFL obviously not as closely as you and didn't really pay attention to records until this year.

I did forget about Seattle.

Cool.

But barring a miracle (saints lose to bucs & falcons, Carolina lose to Cleveland & beat atl) the south winner is almost a lock for 7 wins

The way the Saints up and down season has been I would not be surprised if they lose to BOTH the Bucs and Falcons.

Now does this equate to the Divsion being "bad" or just extremely "hard?"

Is this your first year watching football?

2013 - Packers win NFC North at 8-7-1
2011 - Broncos win AFC West at 8-8
2010 - Seahawks win NFC West at 7-9
2008 - Chargers win AFC West at 8-8

The season isn't over. Someone in the NFC South will win at least 7 games.

Why all the shock over there being a bad division in football?? It happens every year. The South winner will have at least 7 wins and maybe 8 if the Saints win out. Seems like this year people are more upset by it than usual. Is it because there may be a 10+ win team left out?? Well too fucking bad I guess. In the last 10 years there have been at least 2 teams from the NFC South with 10 wins that missed the playoffs. This shit happens every year yet every year we have people that think its unusual

Heres a weird question though.. Say the Falcons beat the Saints this weekend meanwhile Carolina p.lays Clevelnad to an offensively anemic 14-14 tie, then in week 17 the Panthers and Falcons tie again at 24-24 while Tampa beats New Orleans. That would leave Atlanta at 6--9=1 and Carolina at 5-8-3... Who wins the division?? LOL.

I don't think people are more upset about it than usual, you're just hearing it more because it affects your team.

I think it's also a big deal because it was so surprising. A lot of times you can see a bad division coming. But although the Panthers were expected to not be as good this season, the Falcons were expected to have a bounce back year, some people considered the Bucs a potential playoff team, and the Saints were expected to compete for the Super Bowl. The fact that all of those teams have fallen so far below expectations is surprising.

Carolina better win % Ties are counted as half a win and half a loss:suds:

Are you sure? Because they would both have the same win % at 6.5 wins and 9.5 losses.

So wouldnt both teams be 6.5-9.5 then?? I honestly have no clue. LOL. Just thought it was an interesting ( if nearly impossible ) hypothetical.
