In 2012, Connor Barth's last season, TB had NFL-best 66.67 touchback rate. Barth was 10-11 FG att up to 39 yards; 12-13 from 40-49; 6-9 50+

From Klis. Why doesn't this guy have a job until now?

Glad we got him......at least he's got some experience.

The whole letting go of Prater thing for McManus has really backfired on us. Took the strongest part of our ST, and made it one of our weakest.

Good signing. I watched plenty of Tampa games, and Barth can do the damn thing.

Sorry Doc but I have to disagree. Granted he hasn`t been what they hoped for but if you look at the bright side...He didn`t cost us a game, Denver saved a ton in cap space and now we have a ligitimate expierienced kicker in Barth. Timing couldn`t be better IMO. I think Conner will pay dividends right away.

I agree with Randymon on this one. Prater has missed as many FG's as McManus and while many of them were longer kicks, Prater hasn't been himself. I wouldn't trust him in a big situation. Prater was flat out awful in the preseason in fact he attempted one of the worst kicks I have ever seen a pro attempt.

All things considered the Broncos were in a box and Prater let them down, not the other way around.

Just fyi, Barth wasn't kicking off for the Bucs that year.

Totally agree with this.

It sucks about McManus. Dude has a great leg and I would have loved for him to work out, but he just wasn't reliable enough to hang onto. I knew they would cut him as soon as I saw Manny Ramirez's and DT's reaction to his miss on Sunday.

So couple things on this...

1) I like the signing. The guy is actually still pretty young being only 28 at this time.

2) The Broncos must trust his ability on kick off duties to do well considering they signed him to a 3-year contract after just one try out. That to me should be the ultimate boost in confidence for us as fans that the team really liked what they saw. Also have to remember on all those kickoff duties that he had those were when the league was still kicking from the 30 yard line. Bump him up 5 yards and I wonder what his percentage would be. Plus since he hasn't played in a couple of seasons I'm wondering if he went and worked on his leg strength to help improve that ability since it did seem to be the main thing holding him back from being a full time starter in this league.

Anyway very interested to see how this move changes things. Something had to happen as you could tell the coaches had no confidence in McManus to make a kick and it looked like the players were none too happy with him either. When that starts happening it is time to move onto somebody else.

Do the Giants still get their draft pick from us since we released him?

Actually not hey don't. I'm almost certain that the deal was he had to finish the season on our roster. So I think we get to keep our 7th round pick.

I think they do. I thought the deal was he had to be on the roster past our 4th game.

Well I have now found it reported both ways of him needing to be on the roster all season and others that just said he needed to make it to week 5. I'm starting to see more say he just needed to make it to week 5 so I think you are right Broncos6482.
