Which would you chose to start, Alfred Blue v. Cleveland or Ryan Mathews against Oakland?

I'm playing both. Eased in or not, Mathews was supposed to play two weeks ago but they decided to give him extra time. And he has double digits in every home game he's played the whole time going back to the start of last season. I'm playing a MIA opponent this week who has AP and Foles in his lineup so I can take the chance.

I'm saying Mathews. Blue isn't very good, yes he'll get volume, but with Mallet making his first career start, volume is in no way a guarantee to get results. The Browns will put Haden on Andre and stack the box as high as possible. No way Oakland shuts down any aspect of the Chargers offense

Cleveland is much harder to run on than Oakland...another reason to go with Mathews.

I think they're gonna put Haden on Hopkins...if not, he's gonna burn 'em. In any event, I would go with Mathews as well.

Oakland gives up 3.8 YDS/A, Cleveland 4.7YDS/A and Cleveland has a better passing defense. Mathews 1st game back so I'm sure Oliver will get his share of carries while Blue will carry the workload for Houston (who has Mallett starting at QB). I'm starting Blue in 3 leagues.

They're currently sitting at 27th (oakland) at 28th (cleveland) in rushing yards allowed power game, so they're both easy to run on. The big difference is one has a very good QB directing the offense, the other had a guy that has attempted a whopping 4 passes in 2 and a half years.

true, however there have been far more attempts rushing against oakland than cleveland the YPC is glaring.........oaklands YPC ranks 8th, clevelands 4.7 is 31st.........oaklands rush d rank is merely a matter of volume

oakland has been rushed on 52 more times than cleveland and allowed thirty less yards than cleveland

Fair enough...guess it's just my perception. Phil Taylor's absence will be big.

Cleveland has given up 1208 yards on 255 attempts. Oakland has given up 1178 on 307 attempts. Cleveland gives up almost 1 yard more PER CARRY. Cleveland's pass defense (232 YDS/GM, 6.4 Y/A, 56.9 PCT, 2nd in INT's, 3rd in TD's allowed and #1 in Rate 72.2) is much better than Oakland's (242, 7.6, 67.0, 20th, T-26th, 28th at 101.9).

I honestly don't care about per carry... you don't score a RB's YPC.. you score his total on the game. . And in a full game the a Raiders allow only slightly less. Oliver put 100 on them earlier, same offense, same defense, different, better, RB..results will be at minimum similar, likely even better.

For the YPC to matter, there would have to be a reason to suspect they won't run the ball 30 times. I have no reason to think they won't, and I believe Mathews gets the vast majority of that work

You get more 1st downs which you need to score, right? I guess we'll know by days end.

Well you'll have to forgive this Raiders fan if I have no faith in a Raiders defense who hasn't stopped anyone from doing anything all year long, even if cherry picking a few numbers might show otherwise

And to add to my misery, the Raiders D has shown up just enough to ruin my fantasy day in multiple leagues, as well as my advice, but not enough to actually win the game
