This Stymietee guy appears to be an idiot.
Give me a king sized break. Go read your opening post again. You were calling for Gruden to bench RGIII for this game because this announcement came via a Tweet from Griff. Now you are claiming this isn't about RGIII? You have to do better than that.
You've perfectly described quite a few posters here with your use of the word "appears." This is especially true with respects to those who respond to assumptions and appearances instead of facts! This Stymietee guy appears to be an idiot.
Guess you entirely skipped over the part of my opening post that qualified that proposed move with "if true" huh? If you want a king sized break, don't give the impression that you can read, but your comprehensive skills are lacking.
Hey I'm not the one getting ripped a new one by every poster in this thread with the exception of Shark. If it wasn't about Griff then why suggest he be benched? "If true" doesn't change a damn thing, you clearly are targeting Griff and everyone has called you out on it.
Hey I'm not the one getting ripped a new one by every poster in this thread with the exception of Shark, and he's clearly on one side of this topic. If it wasn't about Griff then why suggest he be benched? That's a pretty bold thing to say and "If true" doesn't change a damn thing, you clearly are targeting Griff and everyone has called you out on it.
I dunno fellas, I think Stymie has a point here, and its not about RGIII. Its about the fact that the decision that RGIII was going to start was "leaked out" by "several tweets" rather than being announced by the HC. That's got nothing to do with RGIII, its about Gruden, and how tight of a ship he's running. So to that point I see what Stymie is saying here. The "message" coming out of Redskins Park is not well managed, its not highly coordinated and controlled. It appears players, or maybe assistant coaches, are "tweeting" stuff that is typically reserved for the HC to announce. It may not be a big deal, but try to imagine how Bill Belichek would handle a situation like this. Also recall how much things like this - players controlling the message - impacted our collective view of Shanny and the chaos that surrounded so many of his critical decisions in his last year - when to start RGIII, when he benched him, the desire to not run the RO... all that stuff was the "message" creeping out without much control from the HC.
All I can say is, it ranges from either not a huge problem, to a subtle sign that there is a lack of leadership which is a huge problem, but I have a hard time seeing things like this happening and think "oh, its just nothing, players tweet these days". Well, not if the HC tells them to keep their trap shut about it. Or not if they don't respect what the HC wants them to say. Either way, it doesn't look great. It looks disorganized. Has nothing to do with RGIII other than he's the subject of the message. The real issue is the message delivery, not the subject.

But the point was that it wasn't leaked out by any tweet. A local sports reporter first reported it from "unnamed sources". Well who the hell is that? How do we know it wasn't just her speculating by the known fact that he is taking snaps with the 1st team? So Stymiee jumped the gun and then questioned Gurden's leadership and called for the benching of RG3. If he would have just come out and said that, "oops, I jumped the gun, my bad", this post would have had about 10 responses. But then he dug in and started the questioning of anyone's reading comprehension when the called him out.

This is the way I see it as well as would most clear thinking folks I would think.
Again I don't mean to be so aggressive on this board. It's really not my nature although you would have no way of believing that. I'm just so done with all the "fans" taking shot after shot at Robert Griffin. It's getting really old and I'm just tired of it. And as both of us have pointed out this thread was not a shot at the organization, it was a shot at the QB. "If true" does not change a thing. This thread was started to trash Griffin over a rumor, a rumor that appears to not have any basis at this point in time.
Although you are making it much clearer than the opening poster Kick anytime I see 'bench Griffin" I take that literally and it is most definitely a shot at the QB. If not then why suggest he be benched if he has been cleared to play? So the coach can flex his muscles to show who's boss by punishing his QB? That's silly, he suggested Griff be benched because, IF TRUE, he is blaming Griffin. And that is most definitely a shot at Griffin as others have noticed as well.
.
Sigh... You're interpreting "bench Griffin" as a dig on Griffin when its not intended that way. I'm not in agreement that benching Griffin to show the world that Gruden is in charge is the proper approach, but that is how its intended by Stymie, I believe. Griffin's ego would be the unfortunate collateral damage to such a move, which is why I'm not in favor of it, but its not intended to say "Griffin sucks" or "Griffin belongs on the bench"... its intended to say "Gruden is in charge" and nothing more. So you're reading some thing that isn't what was intended there.
With that said, lets say Griffin is the anonymous source? Griff practices with the first teams all week, he's been itching to get back in there, so he tweets to his person that he's gonna start before Gruden has made the decision yet. Now its all in the news, and Gruden either has to start him, or walk back the story and make it look like Griff isn't ready, or Gruden simply starts him anyway and loses a little more control. I get this is full blown CSI shit here, I know its hypothetical. But if you are the HC and you learn that your QB leaks out he's starting before you've made up your mind, what course of action would you follow to show the QB who's boss? Or would you just let it all slide and show the QB that he's actually your boss?
See what I'm getting at? If the HC isn't the boss, then who is? If players are sending messages about who's starting, who's making those decisions? Its been a circus at Redskins PArk for 15 years, and this is an example of it. The chain of command is poorly defined. The inmates are running the asylum. The players have a backdoor to Snyder... or a backdoor to the media... or the HC (or GM) is just a puppet... these are the stories that swirl around Redskins Park for Snyder's whole tenure. Having anonymous sources making the starting QB announcements is nothing more than a continuation of that circus. Benching RGIII would send a message that Jay Gruden is in charge and he makes those decisions, not the players. I totally get what Stymie was saying there and it really has nothing to do with RGIII, unless RGIII was actually the secret source, in which case he SHOULD be benched for undermining his HC's authority.
I just want the circus to stop. I don't care how it stops, I want to see REAL leadership, and I still don't see it.
