HGH Testing begins Monday

Five players from eight teams will be tested Monday. I'll set the over/under at three players being suspended by the end of the week. If targeting was allowed I'd set it nine. Bonus points given for guessing their names.

On the upside there will be plenty of dirt for the media so Rice and Peterson will be forgotten sooner, and the flashback should leave Goodell with yet more egg on his face. This league is run by 33 of the stupidest people to ever sit in a boardroom. Idiots are hanging over the edge of a cliff and their decision is to wave their arms. Everyone suspects players are using HGH, but they also suspect Congressmen are crooked. But as long is there is plausible deniability we move on. Now in the middle of the biggest overblown scandal in 30 years they're going to throw gas on the pyre.

As for gas on the pyre, I really don't see it that way. The two topics are only loosely connected, and this can easily be construed as a step in the right direction.

I'll also add that it might be just a tad early to hold a funeral (pyre or not) for the NFL, given:

People always talk about the NFLs downfall. Yet viewership is rising. At this point there's not much that will ruin the NFL. Their week 2 rating are on par with NBA Finals and World Series ratings.

20% of the league is probably a laughably conservative estimate. Any position that size is a plus is going to be loaded with cheaters. So maybe the kickers and punters are clean.

Yes ,true. First up will be some back-up or low level player just to set the tone IMO.I doubt that they start with someone like JJ Watt...not that he's using....

Good thread to start. I have felt Dom Riola juiced at some point last couple years with sudden resurgence after 11 years of sucking.

Sure we could all take a guess of one person from each roster.

The owners couldn't care less if they're juicing. Just about every fan realizes that it's rampant and it hasn't hurt the ratings one bit. The league's FO is probably getting worried that if they don't clean this mess up then they'll be dragged in front of congress.

I'm just saying they probably should've picked another time to unveil this... not the best timing by any stretch. Should've been enforced years ago anyways.
