The Royals should really wear purple. It is the true color of royalty. Instead they are royal blue...Which I suppose is just a variation of a violet color...Speaking of purple and blue...the Rangers egos and team is badly bruised. The quest for the first pick continues in Kansas City!!!

Is it 9-17 that we need to go to lose 100 games, that should get it done for the #1 pick right?:gaah:

Things not looking so good for JPA:

The Rangers will wait until Tuesday to add players to the roster, which will be expanded to 40 players on Monday. The call ups from Triple-A Round Rock will include infielder Luis Sardinas and right-hand reliever Spencer Patton, added from Kansas City in the Jason Frasor deal. Patton will have to be put on the 40-man roster.

Interesting thought from Feliz:

Feliz threw three fastballs to Grossman and Altuve. The Astros had all three at 90 or 91 mph, continuing Feliz’s post-Tommy John surgery of sudden dips in velocity. That is a hard way for a closer to go.

“We’re still trying to figure it out,” manager Ron Washington said of Feliz’s showing.

Feliz offered an explanation. Too much rest. He had not pitched since Monday at Seattle. “When I have too many days off, I don’t feel the same,” Feliz said. “It’s been that way since the surgery.”

The Bucs designated Chris McGuiness for assignment. I forgot we got Mikolas for him. That could end up being a damn good deal.

MLBTR when trade was made:

Mikolas, also 25, has 27 big league relief appearances to his credit over the last two years. The right-hander spent the bulk of the year with the Padres' Triple-A Tucson affiliate, where he pitched to a 3.25 ERA with 5.9 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 in 54 relief appearances. Mikolas came from San Diego in a late November trade along with Jaff Decker but he didn't stay long. He entered the season ranked 25th among Padres prospects, per Baseball America, who noted that he has a good curveball and can touch 98 mph with a fastball that doesn't have much movement on it. BA wrote that his ceiling may be a middle reliever or setup man, but he has a high probability of reaching that level.

I think Baseball America might have been wrong on this one. I would say his ceiling is a #3 starter. He's only 26. He just needs to learn to be consistent. He's still learning to be a starter.

Hoying became the fourth Texas minor leaguer to reach 20 homers and 20 steals in a season during the 2000s, joining Ian Kinsler, Nelson Cruz and Lewis Brinson. They need to bring the guy up.

The damned Rockies keep losing...don't think 9-17 will do it...let's go for 5-21 (after glancing at our Sept schedule, this just might be achievable).

It is truly entertaining to watch the A's implode....I don't even mind that the Angels are the benefactors ( well I mind a little).

They may yet come back and make a run of it given their pitching, but this team has been a house of cards offensively for two years ( as we've discussed here ad nauseum) and Mr Brilliance (Billy boy Beane) went a trade too far with Cespedes IMO...suck it A's...and oh hey, we want Gentry back...
