Just did auction keeper league last night

QB: Brady & McCown
WR: Julio, D. Thomas, M. Floyd, TY Hilton, Marquise Lee
RB: Gio, Martin, Ellington, Sankey, Blount
TE: Cameron, Ebron
Def: Seattle, Pats

We start 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, Flex, Def and K. Being proposed trade for either Gronk or Julius Thomas to upgrade my TE. Thomas would be a little more as he can be kept for $1, Gronk for $21. Owner is weak at RB and has said he'd like any of the first 3 but would probably have to be a 2 for 2 deal from us. Would you guys give up Ellington (or if I can talk him into Sankey) for Gronk with what I have?

Sankey? that's not even a question, do it. . For Orange Julius at a buck, not Gronk at 21. But somehow I doubt that works. Ellington would be a bit tougher to part with, and I don't think you have the need with Cameron already at TE for you. Wouldn't do it, even though you would "win"the trade, you don't have the need to make it worthwhile

If it's Sankey I'd have to throw in a better WR and take a lesser one back, appreciate the quick input Treff!

Can keep as many as you want?

Your future looks good at TE and Cameron may be close to Julius this year. No pressing needs there.

In fact you look young and solid everywhere - except QB.

I'd stand pat but keep an eye on a young QB instead of McCown. In fact, I'd probably drop him for Carr right now.

Very nice team. You have leverage at RB - don't waste it unnecessarily.

We can keep up to 5 players for up to 4 years at the salary they were drafted for. If traded the 4 years starts over; if I pick up Carr on the waivers he's ineligible to be kept, they have to be drafted.

That's one thing these guys who grab 2 TE's always over estimate. . The trade value. It's always, "we'll I'll have a nice trade chip later", well no not really. The logjam of guys from 4-12 at TE, really means no one really had a need to trade any real value for one of the big 3. Not to mention that people who waited on TE during the draft, don't often have the desire to have one of those guys anyways, if they did, probably wouldn't have waited on a TE.

In that case your stable of young RBs and WRs isn't so valuable - and neither is Ebron, probably. I'd try for Gronk, because when healthy he leaves both Cameron and Julius in the dust. Maybe Sankey plus Lee?

Hm. Unless it doesn't apply to prior owners, though, that rule might kill your league. Even without that, you'll see teams swapping cheap studs four years from now and they never go back on the market.

Impossible to value players without knowing $ and keeper situations for all involved.

For example, if Cameron were a $2 player who could be kept for 3 more years, he would be more valuable than Gronk at $21. While Thomas is better than Cameron, he is not better by enough for you to give away another asset if you own him cheaply.
