Tough opener for A&M and SC with it being in conference.

That is some real heady stuff there. If the guy is healthy the probability of him playing first base everyday is pretty high. They didn't take on his contract to watch him sit on his ass half the game.

Exactly. He will be a DH as more of a rest along with a few others unless we come up with a gem.

what they expected when they took on that contract and what they actually get may be two different things. carrying all that extra weight may explain why his range was reduced and the injury occurred. and he could ended up being another David Ortiz who plays the field once in a blue moon and carries his team with his bat

Ortiz is a special case. It's really hard to put up value with only your bat. You have to hit like Cabrera to do that. I wouldn't complain if Fielder did that though.

No love for Mr. Sunberg.....

And I really loved Buddy Bell too.

Sundberg and Bell will always be in my top 5 along with Pudge. Too lazy to narrow the other two guys down right now.

Okay I know the team sucks, but Carp hitting third makes about as much sense as anyone of us showing up to the ballpark to hit third tonight. Carp isn't a major league talent...

I hope Carp is just a warm body out there, who is cheap and if he gets hurt who cares? He doesn't belong on the team next year.

All on RW. Play Rosales at 1st. Don't care which hand the pitcher throws with because Carp also stinks on defense. Rosales better all the way around.

You're right and it's not even close. Rosales isn't amazing, but he's far superior to Carp. Not that is saying much about Rosales. He does his job, but Carp is a special kind of shitty.

I loved Jim Sundberg...Mike Hargrove was great too. Top five would be very tough....

Pudge
Ryan
Sundberg
Beltre
Juan Gonzales

Honorable mention: Hargrove, Al Oliver, Greer, Sierra, Young, Fergie,

Palmeiro would have made the list but he's a cheater. Hamilton would have made the list but he quit on us.

:lame:Got my vote on those two:nod:

No one thinks of this guy, and he wasn't a life long Ranger or anything, but Julio Franco was a force with the bat way back when.

He had one of those funking stances which you knew there was no way he could catch up to the heat, and yet, he hit about .300 when he was 40.

A guy I always liked was Julio Franco.

Had such a funky stance and you knew he couldn't catch up to the heater. Yet he hit .300 I think when he was 40.

I thought about him and I believe he won a batting title which is unusual for RHers.

I am surprised at how few include MY. The guy was a hitting machine for many years and I liked him at 2b.

Yes, I included him in my top 10. When Grieve went out and acquired Palmeiro and Franco via trade that one winter he pulled off one of the most amazing offseasons in Rangers history.
