No way does he deserve this. He had a couple of good seasons. Nothing great.

My initial thought was "Ryp is a good guy and did take us to a championship but ... really, the right of honor?"

So then I thought to myself ... name 5 better Redskin QBs.

How many guys from the last 20 years deserve any consideration at all?

Part of me agrees with you and part of me says SB Champ, SB MVP. He deserves to be in the ring.

Look at it this way. Ryp did once what Eli basically did twice. Eli will get talks of Hall of fame consideration when he retires. So yea I think Ryp getting on our ring of honor is legit.

With all due respect, Rypien's 91' season was GREAT. That season alone IMO, gets him into the ROH.

Way to go #11!

While I wouldn't put him in personally that SB season was GREAT! He could do no wrong all year long. It was MVP worthy

I believe some things should be earned...not given.

His career did not deserve remembering...he had a season and a game to remember.

Saying name give other QBs in our franchise history that deserve being mentioned doesn't mean Rypien deserves anything. Name 5 Qbs in any franchise's history that warrant this...there isn't any team. All putting Rypien in there does is water down what our truly great QBs were.

Then in that Case Sean Taylor shouldnt be in the ring either. Because while he had one brilliant season,. and tons of potential. But at the end of the day, we never even made the Divisional playoffs with him on the roster.

I agree with you on that. You could make an argument that Taylor was among the best in the league. Rypien never was.

So should Trent Dilfer get in the Ring of Honor for Baltimore?

What else would I expect? It's the new America...celebration of mediocrity.

Dilfer never had a year close to what Ryp did in 1991.

I did not say being a top 5 Redskin QB was a reason to put him. I was creating a ledger to see how and why they came to this decision. As I said I can see both sides.

I believe I also used the past 20 years and a lack of good talent as a check for does Ryp deserve the honor. Clearly the talent around Ryp duing his best years had much to do with his success. Ryp along with Doug Williams and Jay Schroeder are evidence of how good Gibbs was. Winning with those QBs and a multitude of RBs is unrivaled.

I figured Sean Taylor would be brought up and he did not have credentials to be there either. As was said earlier Taylor's fame comes from two things, his untimely and sad death and what he might have become had he not been killed.

I think my initial thought of Ryp being there is kind of shaky but I am not upset by it. The only two QBs in Redskin history that were locks is Baugh and Jurgensen.

But he won the Super Bowl. So single season greatness should get you the ring of honor...how about single game if that game is the Super Bowl...Timmy Smith.

i dont have an issue with ryp being in the ring of fame . he is well liked , he was a champion and a lot of people have fond memories of him

his career overall was avg less the 91 season

So we are celebrating average. Got it.

How about we are celebrating success. This team has 3 Lombardis in my life time. I think its fair that all three QBs that actually played key roles in us getting those SHOULD be in the ring.

So Trent Dilfer should too for Baltimore.
