After all is said and done, Elvis will still be here. I really don't think anyone will be moved. Just don't think JD will be satisfied with anything that will be offered for Elvis.

Absolutely have to have 2 starting pitchers next season, even if they are one of 3-4-5 guys in the rotation. If EA can net you something like that and you save money on the front end you gotta do it, I believe.

8 year 120 million dollars guaranteed, what really is there left to work hard for. When you are performing, I get all the cutsie antics and the having fun and so forth but when a guy isn't delivering, he has to focus that much harder and it doesn't seem EA is focused. Offseason layoff that led to sore arm, so he couldn't get his work in in the spring. Defense has been fair at best this season. He has been fair as well at the plate and that may be being nice cause he's awful w RISP, so far. If someone will give up some pitching for him, I say move him and that pre-mature contract he was given. At year end this season I was all about locking him up if he performed the entire year like his second half last season, but he really hasn't shown much improvement and still has little power. If there is a suitor that offers a decent return and they can get out of his contract, move him. If Sardinas can provide what Elvis is showing this year, next year and at significantly lower cost why not?

I don't think it's the money. Agree he doesn't seemed as focused. Beltre can get away with having fun, because he'll turn it on when he needs to. EA, who we know is close to Beltre, can't do that, the experience and track record isn't there.
Maybe subconsciously he's lost focus because it's a lost season, or he's just lost trying to be a leader, a role he wasn't ready for. I kept saying that to no avail, and a few posters did not like it.
"Andrus will be the leader of this team" I'd roll my eyes EVERYTIME. Maybe someday, he's too green.

Kinsler was as good as gone as soon as that deal was inked. You get a shot a hitter like Prince you take it and move Kinsler. But it's Kinsler's leadership BY EXAMPLE that was respected by his teammates.
I don't give two shits what Kinsler haters say, they couldn't be more wrong. It was a transitional year saying goodbye to Cruz..Kinsler, Gentry and even Murphy.

Still JD made the exactly the right moves, except he missed out on a physical. Wait, I've forgiven him. Kind of.
I still can't believe he didn't insist on a full scan for that kind of commitment.
He scanned EA. It doesn't make any sense.

Yup, this is why I don't post, frustrated. Bottom line, nobody's fault, not JD's...we could have survived Fielder if the whole staff (minus Yu) wouldn't have gone down, and Profar...another killer.

And you know what will happen, because it happens everytime...no pitcher is ever good enough unless it's an Ace. I watch it every off-season. That's ridiculous, WE HAVE ONE for crying out loud.

Was referring to the July trading deadline only that no one gets moved. The off season is an entirely different beast. Yeah, if you can move Elvis for pitchers, jump on it. Though, I would think JD does it through free agency. To many teams in the playoff hunt for any decent trade being made this month. Alas, we won't be apart of that hunt.

Everyone forgets Perez. Think his lose possibly felt the worst. Think he was to have one heckuva year. Now you really can't expect him next year.

Problem is we have an ace that can't beat the best teams in our division. I realize there was anticipation that Harry came back healthy and MP would progress and nobody anticipated Derek tripping over his dog but every year JD seems to take a flyer on guys like harden or Saunders or the other POS the angels sent packing this year and that's just not good enough. The A's seem to find pitching whether in their system or in FA and don't rely on some lost cause finding their way somehow. The team was set-up if everything worked out to plan on the pitching front but that has not happened and next years rotation looks bleak to say the least

MP is a 2016 option at best, love his upside but he won't do much in the second half of next season but get his bearings under him late in the year

You are most likely right that JD doesn't feel there is a decent enough offer at the trade deadline to move anyone, though there could be a surprise from a team that just might think they can make it with another piece. Who knows?

Yep. Now we need to look for 2 to 3 pitchers in a market where every team is looking for them. And your right about the A's and their pitching. We are going to have to match them pitcher to pitcher to take back that division.

Not sure what to make of Yu against our division. It's plane we need more pitchers to make up for it if he can't figure out the A's.

Man this season is tough. I started DVRing the games the other day because I have been busy but half the time when I see how things are going, I just start watching them in fast forward.

Still here till the bitter end but it sure looks like it is going to be just that. I look forward to when the rosters expand so we can see some more of the young guys. It also should be interesting to see how Holland and Soto do when they return. I am actually sort of thinking Chirinos has won himself the starting catching job next season but I suppose, things could change- still an very long season ahead.

Congrats to Nelly for hitting a HR on his Bday- only reason I remember that is bc it is the same day as my wife's.

Anyway, on a bright note, my wife and I saw Emmitt Smith just a table across from us at a restaurant we ate at last night. I wanted to approach him but I decided it not to as he looked like he was in important conversation with some colleagues. Funny thing is, I wouldn't have even noticed if our waiter didn't say something.

If the Cards would send Shelby Miller, not likely, I'd say move him. Maybe even add a lower level piece or 2

I noticed that Miller has been up and down lately. Had a rough month in June and overall is 7-7 with a 4.10 era in the NL. That being said I would still take him. Just 23 years old.

With Mikolas pitching tonight and our awesome offense I would say I am in trouble in regards to my subject line on my thread.

Posters are dropping like flies now. Wonder what it will be like 79 games from now?
I'll be there! Maybe not every night and maybe not late into any blow outs (remember I'm on the east coast), but the Rangers for better or worse are in my blood, been there for 40 years...believe it or not, seen worse (well not much worse). I'll be tuning in, expressing my opinions for what they're worth, and wincing along with the rest of you!:suds:

If we can get Miller for Andrus, do it without hesitation!!! Problem is, EA is not cheap and his value has diminished due to his uneven performance this season, so surprised if the Cards would be willing to give up this much for him.

Also, Cards don't need a SS - they do need a 2b...so in my mind the only way they trade for EA is to make him a 2b this year...

He scanned EA. It doesn't make any sense.

You keep harping on this point and it's nonsense. Not a team in the majors would have done a complete scan, but somehow you've found it in your heart to forgive JD for not insisting on it. How big and nice of ya.

Did we give Darvish a scan? How about Harrison?

Enough all ready.

From the News today re EA:

An Andrus error on what should have been a routine, inning-ending double play was the key to putting the game out of Texas’ reach. It was Andrus’ second consecutive game with an error, albeit after a streak of 40 error-free games. He has 10 for the year, four shy of his 2013 total.

He complicated matters a little bit more by scuttling any attempt the Rangers had of jumping back into the game by bouncing into his own double play. It was Andrus’ 14th double-play grounder, five shy of the career high he established last year when his offensive growth seemed to grind to a halt. It also dropped his season average with runners in scoring position to .145 (9 for 62).

“We will have a lot of focus on player development on the big league level while these guys are playing,” general manager Jon Daniels said last week when the season seemed to turn sour for good. “In doing that we want to focus on improving attention to detail with some of the players. If we do that, we’ll play better as a team. That’s really our focus now.”

It doesn’t take much reading between the lines to see Andrus’ name all over that.

It's been a rough season, and I see the wolves are at the door lol. As for me, I'll gladly keep and stick with EA. The Rangers have had more injuries this season than any team in baseball could have withstood. There's not one team out there that could have played .500 if they sustained the man for man injuries we have, plain and simple

I certainly haven't punted on EA. But his mental approach to this season was very troubling to me.

First, he knew well in advance of ST that more - much more actually - was going to be expected of him. Second, he knew he was coming off a bad offensive season. Third, he knew he'd have a new 2nd baseman, and a young one at that, who would be working with him.

So what does he do? He comes in fat/lazy/ill-prepared for 2014 and promptly gets injured. This is troubling, both short and long term IMO.

Rangers catcher Geovany Soto (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock Friday. Soto is hoping to rejoin the Rangers' lineup July 18 at Toronto, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Loos like we will see Soto in a couple weeks, hope to see him healthy. Maybe he can learn to pitch at RR, we could use him as a starting pitcher
