Darvish owns a 7.59 ERA in four career starts at the Coliseum in Oakland.

And you would think that would be a place to pitch in and lower your ERA. Not sure if it is something between the ears or if his style of pitching works in favor of the A's because they usually lay off the pitches out of the strike zone. It's puzzling.

At this point, in a different season and once totally healthy, I'd through Perez. I don't think Darvish has a clue IMO.

I tend to agree with you darryl on pitching Perez.

Pretty mind blowing from a guy as talented as Yu is and the fact that it has been in so many starts not just a couple.

Unfortunately, it was an easy answer since no other pitcher we have I'd through at the A's at a critical point. See how Tepesch does today but I wouldn't throw him out at a critical point. We don't have that pitcher on staff at this time. We need to do more than get healthy this off season.

True-it's been a crazy season but some good has come out of it. I have always liked Odor but to see what he is doing at the MLB level is great. At 20 he should still be in the minors working on defense and a few others things. I like what I have seen from Sardinas as he seems to always make contact and has done well playing at 2nd and ss. I like that Rios and Beltre have shown up in spite of the struggles and have produced at a high level. I like how well Soria has closed. What a shame he is doing so well with this tough of a season. I have been shocked by Chirinos arm. I may have missed some but some good has come from the season.

HA! Forgot this part-you are right, our pitching is weak and it would be real tough to expect much in a big game against the A's.

I think it's becoming an issue between the ears. Oakland perhaps more than any other team in baseball won't chase pitches outta the zone. This is throughout their line up with the exception of Cespedes. I think that has an effect on Darvish since he relies on hitters chasing pitches outta the zone and is reluctant to challenge hitters with his fast ball in a fast ball counts.

You forgot Choice. It's good to see him progress (or regress) this year. We really wouldn't know what we got there. But with Rios I'm not against sending Choice to AAA next year and prepare him for 2016.

And the two Nicks. Hope they progress even more throughout this year. This doesn't mean they should both be on the rotation next year. Tepesch could be. Start out as a #5 and work his way up.

Seems we have the same thought process on that. Not sure how you get that corrected.

I thought about Choice and have liked his power. But 200 avg and his defense in LF was why I did not mention it. But agree it was good that he is getting valuable playing time.

I should have mentioned Martinez as he was a surprise and should be pitching in AA as Tepesch should have been last year. I like Tepesch and still think he can be a good BOTR pitcher for us. So good call on your part on those two.

I'm not either. I think you have to trust in your talent and challenge the hitters

What's so puzzling to me is his reluctance to challenge anyone with his fastball, since it's not only fast, but has terrific movement too. And he throws several variations as well.

I don't think anyone keeps up with such things, but if they did I'm pretty sure we'd lead the league in pitchers who insist on 3-2 counts, and batters who take the 3rd strike.

It works for some teams but somehow he needs to realize what he is doing does not work for Oakland and he needs to change his game plan accordingly. Not sure if he has been told but ignores it and does his own thing or what. A catcher can call what pitch to throw but pitchers can shake that sign off.
