Yeah have to agree with this. Cutler has proven very little other than to be injury prone. Green Bay looks like the safer bet to win the division and depending on the draft I could see Detroit leap frog Chicago and maybe even Minnesota be in the running. That is a tough division to guess right now.

I didn't say the Bears were favorites to win the division. I said they should be better than last year because the defense is improved and the offense has been great under Trestman. That should correlate to the playoffs.

I also said they were good value at 40-1. Doesn't mean they are favorites. It means the payout potential is worth the risk.

Your right, They will lock up the core, Sherman, Thomas, Chancellor (is already) and Wilson. Bennett (already is)
Weird to think of Secondary players as the core. The league has moved in a funny direction

laying down 1g on the Raiders

LOL! I laid 2g with a friend, 1g each on four possible SB winners late last season, at the start of playoffs, and being the idiots we are went for the longest shots. We lost 3 games the first week, then one the next week. Then went to Vegas for SB (planned since beginning of season), watched game at a AAA "gentlemen" club and spent another 2gs like idiots. I can't remember the second half of game. NFL is so much fun!

I like Green Bay at 15/1 . I see Seattle being the team to beat again and last year Green Bay played them a pretty good game.

I think Broncos and Pats have had the only QB's that took their team to 5 SB's. Hopefully TB has another 1 in tank before he rides off in the sunset with Giselle

Agreed, however, TB won't get another one without a stout D. Losing Vince last year was our biggest hit.

So are you trying to tell us you think teams like the Eagles, Colts, and Falcons have better chances of going to the Super Bowl based on the fact they weren't in it last year?

That's just dumb. Correlation does not imply causation. A team having been involved in the previous year's Super Bowl has nothing to do with its chances of being involved in the next.

Just stating reality. Very rarely do teams go to back-to-back Super Bowls. The odds are very much against any team to repeat. No where did I say the Seahawks and Broncos will not, just that the odds are stacked against them.

I do think the Falcons, if they get improve on defense a little and stay healthy (something they couldn't do last season) have a legitimate shot at making the Super Bowl. Just two seasons ago, they made it to the NFC Championship game. The 49ers could do so also, and just look at their track record: 3 NFC Championship appearances in a row, and if a couple of plays played differently, they could have easily been to three Super Bowls in a row. I wouldn't rule them out either.

I would buy into the concept of a repeat, if a team was head and shoulders above everybody else. But in reality, this isn't the NBA. Seahawks have stiff competition. The Broncos have to deal with the Colts, Patriots, and the Bolts.

So your pick is the Falcons?

No, it's not. I don't have a pick, just yet. The Falcons would certainly be in high consideration, along with the 49ers, Packers, Giants, and Bears.

All those teams ahead of Seattle or Denver?

I know a lot can change, but the purpose of the thread was to find who you favored now. So is it just the field?

Too early to say until the draft happens since a few teams can bring up a noticeable increase in their odds if they draft well.

For example I wouldn't put the Panthers in the mix right now since Cam Newton's best passing option is to pass it too himself but a draft deep in WR and CBs they could bring themselves right back into it.

The Falcons are another team I think could help their chances if they jump up and grab Clowney and Mack. They worked in a young secondary last season so their defense could be respectable if they add a legit pass rush to it.

The 9ers have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds so I could easily see them trading up in the 1st round to grab an impact player. If they traded up to grab a top CB, added a TY Hilton type of WR, and grabbed a Center that increases their odds by a lot. Not to mention if Tank Carradine and Lattimore come back healthy and play like 1st rounders.

So in the AFC it's hard for me to consider anyone other than the Pats and Broncos. Steelers and Ravens I still see them tweaking and refreshing the roster modes. Bengals need to actually win a playoff game first and I don't think the moss of Zimmer helps their defense. Chiefs and Colts would be my dark horse picks but it's likely that the path to the SB will have to go through the Pats AND Broncos and it would just be tough to win both of those games.

NFC is a toss up which as stated above the draft will have the biggest impact there. Seattle, SF, GB, and Saints I see as very legit contenders with a bunch of teams that could be in the mix.

In order to be the man you must beat the man. Hawks didnt have a fire sale like balt did the year before...until proven otherwise seattle is the best team in the nfl....will they end next season that way? Who knows but right now its good to be the champs.

The point was you are making arbitrary lists of likely teams and not putting either of the SB teams on it simply because it is rare they repeat. Just because they don't always come back you have already entirely dismissed them and not even included a small chance they come back. Instead more longer shot teams have a better chance only because they weren't in the SB last year.

I think he was just challenging that questionable logic.

Exactly.

I understand that it's tough to repeat, but no other individual team a leg up on them simply because of that fact. I guess by grouping a bunch of teams together it will always make for an easy case against one team.
