It's hard to say what acceptable is.

1) How is the health of the team?
2) How are we progressing as the year goes on?
3) How is the drama?
4) Is Snyder involved?
5) Has RG3 matured?

Everything hinges on RG3.

Just like his rookie season right? Not a very fair statement considering the game involves coaching, defense and special teams. Did the Superbowl hinge on RW? Nope, his defense dominated, his special teams were, well, special. All he had to do was manage the offense and limit the turnovers. But with our team, EVERYTHING hinges on Griffin. What does that tell you about our team?

I set the bar high. Hoping that RGs woes last year were due to him being rushed back after injury. O-Line should be better (not that it was absolutely horrid), receiving corps will be MUCH better, pass rush should be better. The only direction for Defense and Special Teams to go is up (can't get much worse than last year).

Anything less than 9-7 or 10-6 and the Division title in this weak ass NFCe would be a disappointment. I think those expectations are realistic.

making the playoffs. we did it 2 years ago, when we were projected to finish last in the division, now once again, we should have some surprises on offense. Our defense, will give up big plays but if we can run up the score it shouldn't matter. Whatever record gets us in the playoffs, 8-8..10-6...whatever...

8-8 might very well do it.

It tells us that RG3 has the talent to be a difference maker. You seem to think because people knock certain aspects of RG3's game that we don't think he's extremely talented. He has far more talent than RW and that's why RW went in round 3.

What does it say about our team? It says that we have been penalized 36 million dollars in salary cap space over the last two seasons. It says we have been unable to be competitive in FA until this season. It says we gave up 4 starting caliber players to get RG3...so RG3 better be special.

5 Wins in 2011 without a good NFL quarterback. 10 Wins in 2012 with a rookie, and potentially great franchise quarterback. 3 Wins in 2013 with a 2nd year, potentially great franchise quarterback coming off major knee surgery...

With a healthy RG3, this team will be good. To quote the intro to one of my favorite TV shows growing up I think the RG3/Skins will be "better, stronger...faster". You guys remember this show?

I have the Skins winning 5 at home and 4 on the road. So, put me down for 9-7.

Hail to you my brothers and sisters, its good to be a Redskins fan!

Honestly... acceptable for Gruden being a rookie coach would be.

6-10 if the defense and Special teams do not improve as I expect the offense to still have a good ground game, but the passing game will likely struggle early.

If the Defense is middle of the pack or better from the get go and Special teams is at least average, acceptable then goes up to 9-7.

I see this right now as a 5-10 win team with things hinging not on RG3, but on the defense and special teams. The running game I expect to work, and I think the passing game as constructed presently will get yards and be a home run threat. But I think we suffer in the redzone. also think that while RG3 will improve on his stats from last year, its unrealistic to expect him to have numbers like his rookie year because I think the transition to a more pocket/play action based passing game will take most of the season. And Gruden has all but come out and said the Read Option is going to be extremely limited in DC.

I see no issues with the Offense other than pass protection. This teams success is based on D playing better and the fuckin special teams actually not giving up TD's every week and having a punter that punting from the skins 30 can actually put the oppenent inside their 20 instead of midfield.

Kev... no surprise but I have to disagree. Our offense was actually rather bad once inside the redzone. Yes pass protection was an issue. But I really dont see as to where we have improved our redzone offense much if at all this off season.

Also not giving up nearly an INT for every TD we actually managed in the passing game would be a big help. BUT I will even give a bone on that and say pass protection was just as culpable as the QBs in this area. Yes defense and special teams are going to be the real key to improving. But fuck all if the offense gets a free pass until we can manage better than 60% TD to Feildgoal ratio in the redzone.

Our red zone offense last season suffered because RG3 wasn't the threat of the prior season and he couldn't deliver passes on time and accurately. A healthy RG3 should make our red zone offense better.

Our offense will still be the key to improving. If we don't score, we don't win. That being said, our defense will get more turnovers this season because we have added pass rush to the equation (as long as we are aggressive like they claim).

Not focusing on the record at all this year.
Right out of the gate, I want to see our Oline not collapse. This will help RG3 go through his progressions better. Then when things break down, the quick burst and better decisions when defenders are bearing down. Sliding or getting out of bounds.
A defense that shows youthful promise. The draft is crucial here. More creative defense with better communication.

Then hopefully we can get leads and close out games with RG3/Alfred combo.

I am very confident our special teams will be greatly improved. In every aspect.

With a healthy griffin the red zone O in year 1 was very good and I'm gonna say it will be again this year because he adds so much when healthy. This squad last year seemed to start every drive inside their own 10 and the opponents seemed to start every drive near midfield. Not a formula for success. If every coach talks about the "3" phases of the game the skins need a hellava improvement in
Special teams
Defense
Offense
In that order imo

Bro... without a heavy dose of the read option Im just not seeing RG3 rushing for 6 TDs this year healthy or not. As I have said, we will be a deep ball offense. good between the 20's but I have very little faith in our redzone abilities.

he doesnt need to rush for 6tds . the threat on roll outs and such should be enough

turning and handing the ball to AM is another option .

Two years ago defenses were reading keys and reacting, or in other words running themselves out of the play. Read option requires that you play very disciplined assignment football. Last year you did not see QBs gaining the yards that were available the year before. Defenses were not giving up the middle seam route like the year before either. Griffin's threat to run is the biggest weapon. Seattle practiced broken plays last year and Wilson was good at taking advantage. HUGE for him because he is not big. Hopefully Robert can incorporate this into his game, the problem noticed by many last year is Robert was not very good at focusing on receivers down field when running with the ball. Gruden should work with him on that because if he threatens the edge and DBs come up he'll have some big plays available downfield.

I agree, field position was terrible last year. STs being the biggest culprit and the O turned the ball over a lot more last year without getting as many TOs as the year before by the D. Field position is HUGE. I think with a healthy Reed and adding Jackson there options on offense to be a good red zone team. A healthy Griffin who is a threat to run will make a difference too. Defenses were not afraid of him last year because of his limitations.
